DITTO, I am so angry and dissatisfied that I now have an overpriced watch on my arm that doesn't do exactly what I bought it for!

Best Answer

I have a new versus 2, I installed alpine ski and have swimming in there.

both didn’t work-

firstly the swimming one just opens the app and says loading.

Alpine skiing didn’t record speed.

heart rate, sleep and steps are all working fine as is the clock.

can you help suggest how to fix the swim? And look at alpine ski?

thanks,

I contacted fitbit. They have no idea whether there are any plans to put the swim features back on. They could only suggest checking the website for updates on firmware. Not much use to me. I have put it back in the box and gone back to my original versa.

I took the suggestion and bought an IONIC.  Its great.  I sold the Fitbit Versa 2 on Ebay for exactly what I bought it for.  I was honest and said it wasn't good for swimmers but the watch is great for workouts.

I noticed the lap counter gone as well and not happy about it.

Best Answer

No, the lap tracker is no longer on Versa 2. I'm upset that I cannot see the time either unless I touch the button.

I'm also disappointed in Versa 2. No laps on watch face and I miss the other 2 buttons.

My versa 1 has recently died and I have been offered a free replacement or 50% off another model. I was so tempted to upgrade to the Versa 2 but the missing lap count on-screen could sway me to save my money and just get a free replacement versa 1. Just wondering if perhaps this has been fixed with an update?

I was told yesterday by Fitbit that this has not been fixed and it is not in the upgrade plan yet.  I as well upgraded to the versa 2 and didnt like it because of the lap counter missing so I sold it on ebay.  I then purchased two consecutive Ionics that both failed on the first swim.  Luckily I purchased from a 3rd party vendor with a 30 day money back guarantee.  Just yesterday I purchased a versa 1 on Amazon since I had such great luck with my first versa.  Actually when you do the firmware upgrade to the versa 1 it is identical to the the versa 2 with the exception of having Alexa and versa 1 still showing you laps.
I loved the look and options with the Ionic but for a swimmer it was horrible!!!  At this point my vote is staying with Versa 1.

Hi, everyone.

So yesterday I got on the mail my second Fitbit Versa 2. The first one died two weeks before during its first swim... and it was my fifth device after four failed Fibit Versa (first model) which died in the pool slightly over the period of one year and a half. I thought I was being very unlcuky, but I can see now I'm far from being a rare exception.

It makes no sense to me to have a "smart" watch which only acts as a stopwatch while swimming. My old Casio does that for a tenth of its price.

I posted the following suggestion in the Fitbit Suggestion Forum for Spain (where I reside), so feel free to click and support it. (Please let me know if there is a similar suggestion here.)

Definitely take the replacement versa 2 does not have a lap counter as the Versa

I don’t think it has after reading so many recent comments.

As of last week when I used my Versa 2 it still had not been updated!  I would save your money and stick with the Versa.  I'm completely irritated and dissatisfied.  Although it does have the talk to text feature added in the Versa 2 if you're a Swimmer and want the Swim functionality, stick with the Versa.  Fitbit has not directly responded to any of the questions regarding the updated swim function an when I did a chat online with a representative they had no idea when or if it ever would be.

So angry! took me over 2 weeks to take the Versa 2 for a swim after getting it for xmas, I've thrown out the box but will try dig out the receipt and see if I can return, this was the only thing I loved about the Ionic (hated the look if it) and I just assumed a feature that was already there would be in later version, if not what's the point! I just can't understand their thinking to make it a stop watch! Pools have clocks on the walls time is not the thing we want to track!!!!!!!!!!

It tracks laps on the app but not on the watch face. There is no way for me
to challenge myself without mentally counting the lengths and laps.

There are goggles on formswim.com that track laps that you can see in your
goggle that I think I might get but they are $199. The goggles have an
optional heart rate monitor as well but it is an additional $79. I might
just get that. I'm so dissappointed with Versa2.

You are not alone. What surprises me is that Fitbit appears to be an
elephant in the room in this conversation but refuses to say a word in
defense of the setbacks in swim tracking in the design of Versa 2.

It’s almost like the company does not care.

Hi LiliyaFitbit

Just in case you are still not aware of the swimming issue with the Versa 2.

It does not have the live lap count function which exists on the original Versa.  The only display whilst swimming is a timer.  Yes, stats can be viewed on the app afterwards but this is of little help. Swimmers like to know how many lengths they have completed DURING the swim.

If you look through the Community Forums, you will see lots of customers disappointed with this, especially those who thought they were “upgrading” from their original Versa.

This has been going on for sometime now with no positive response from Fitbit.  Coding is already available so to make the minor modifications needed for the new hardware should not be difficult.

Please could you be clear with Fifbits intentions here.  Will the original functionality be incorporated into the Versa 2 or do your customers have to look elsewhere if they want this functionality?

A response would be most welcome.

@Pete-Fl They seem to respond to negative reviews on Facebook.  I posted a review and complained about this and they responded pretty quickly but with a response that was not helpful and they told me to submit comments on the forum.  I did inform them that hundreds of us have been complaining and there has been no response.  I did chat with a representative the other day who also was of no help and said to submit my ideas on here.
