Yeah I had a similar thing on Twitter. Asked me to DM with my issue and
just got a "we'll review that" kind of response.

Not that I expected the customer service person on Twitter to be able to do
anything, but it did seem like they were just trying to save face.

I'm sure it'll be in the next Versa and those of us on the Versa 2 will be
stuffed. I think their silence on the issue means we're not getting
anything.

Thanks. I’ll try FB. I’ve also done Twitter and twitter email to no avail. I think we are just beating a dead horse here.

customer satisfaction appears to be something they just play at.  So sad...

So so disappointing that at the start of 2020 despite over 9 months of input on various forums the the Versa 2 is not ft for purpose as a swimming tracker since Fitbit bizarrely removed the lap counter and distance data there has ben no upgrade for the Versa 2 to include what the original Versa had as standard,

Sympathetic mutterings from moderators  don't cut it, what we Fitbit customers want is some action to rectify this down grade on the Versa 2, they have the technology from the original Versa so is it really so difficult to do ?

I posted on FB and would urge you all to push this on all forums to try and get Fitbit to act.

FITBIT RESPONSE

Hi Peter. We appreciate your feedback. We're always striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. The best place to make your voice heard is the Ideas board on our community (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Requests/idb-p/features). We hope to see you there and let us know if we can help with anythign else.
 Me:

Thank you. As already mentioned, I and many others have made entries there but no real response from Fitbit there either.. All we are asking is for existing Versa functionality to be included on the Versa 2 instead of being removed.

FITBIT RESPONSE:

We hear what you're saying. We appreciate your comments and will do our best to make sure this product aligns with your interests. Thanks for your patience and understanding. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out and we will do our best to help.

Sadly a waste of time, there are 100's of posts in the community forum dating back over a year on this subject with 100's of votes for this feature to be re installed on the Versa 2, as it existed on the original Versa,  but Fitbit just keep on spilling out platitudes in response to all the comments and requests and do absolutely nothing about this, passing members around from one forum post to another, but in reality ignoring what there customers are asking for.
In the Versa 2 spec it still shows swim trackingOnly if you look to compare models is swim tracking shown as not existing, confusing r just rather dishonest...

Kind regards,
Stephen

Had the same experience. I have a Versa and use it for tracking swimming. It works great. I bought a Versa 2 for my wife and was extremely disappointed when I found it doesn't display the lap count in real time. That was the feature for which the watch was purchased. We swim 60 to 100 laps, 1/2 mile to 1 mile, and it is really easy to lose count of your laps when counting them in your head. I see many comments on this lack of functionality in the user forum and don't understand why fitbit has not fixed the problem since it worked well on the Versa and should just be a matter of restoring the original code. I plan to return the Versa 2, as the fitbit rep that I talked to could not tell me if and when the problem would be addressed.

We will look for another smartwatch that has the functionality that we want.

I am very lucky to have kept the Versa2 box and receipt, because I'm taking
it back today.

My mom had bought this watch a little over a year ago from Kohls for my birthday and unfortunately it did not last me this long. The watch was great within the first 6 months, tracked steps sleep and was awesome. Then I started to notice the battery crapped out on me when the charge should last up to 4 days. It would shut off if it was overheated and I would not be able to receive notifications anymore. I am a swimmer and this product is marketed to be an athletic smart watch to promote fitness, which I believe it does a great job of doing this. Unfortunately this watch is not meant to be anywhere near water, sweat or heat. My watch shut off after noticing water/condensation in the sensor that touches the skin resulting it in not working anymore. This is clearly a manufacture problem when they advertise the product to be WATER RESISTANT up to 50 meters. I was in a pool for 30 minutes that was only 4 feet deep.... After calling to see my options, I could only get a 25% discount on a new one. At this point, I'd just suck it up and spend the money on an apple watch that I know is made well and will handle rigorous exercise. I really don't recommend this product because it is not made with the high quality to take on sports that product a lot of heat and sweat. If you are someone that just wants a smart watch with the basic step tracking and heart rate monitoring then yes I would recommend it.

I couldn't agree more with what you have proposed. A product that is over $200 should last more than a year and a half

I'm so glad I found this thread. I was considering purchasing a Versa 2 specifically because I am a lap swimmer, but how on earth can FitBit expect swimmers to purchase a watch that lacks such basic features? I will now look at other brands. I love my Charge 2 but I'm tired of swapping out watches when I swim.

I really just want an explanation of why they dropped it. Wasn’t it reliable in counting? I just don’t understand why they dropped it. Otherwise, I like the Versa 2, but when looking for my next watch, I won’t consider Fitbit products because of this.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've seen with Fitbit. Versa 1 could show laps. Versa 2 does not. What's the point? I can see elapsed time on the clock at the pool - I don't care about time. I want laps!!

I think I will return versa 2 and go back to the older one.

It shows nothing except elapsed time swimming. WORTHLESS. I am sending mine back.

There can’t be any misunderstanding at Fitbit (fib bit) any longer about this issue. It is just clear that the swimmer have been left hanging totally dry. Such a shame as the Versa 2 otherwise is quite a good product.

Total shambles. Fitbit are being arrogant and useless.

Best Answer

Versa 2 is just a stopwatch. Useless for swimming.

They do NOT care. Arrogant and ignorant.

I returned my Versa2 yesterday for the original Versa. If it goes out I
might get an Apple watch.

I've been using a TomTom Spark 2 for the last few years and was hoping for a one-watch-does-all from FitBit. I'm not impressed with their offering, and there are so few good options out there that I am now debating going with an Apple Watch. I swore never, but it actually looks good for lap and open swims as well as other sports, sleep tracking, and loads of other stuff. I wonder if it will clean my house, too?

Wow LiliyaFitbit, I find it hard to believe you had to ask for more information when there are now hundreds of comments about the fact that the Versa 2 displays nothing but a stopwatch when swimming is activated as an exercise.  No laps, distances, goals, or anything that would be useful to swimmers.  The reply from Fitbit is much like your response to @Linz76 - sure it's waterproof, regardless of the water type, and all the stats you are asking for are in the app - on the phone, in the locker, not live or useful as they would be on the watch, the way they were with Versa originally.  We're getting tired of the lack of recognition by Fitbit.
