Versa 2 tracking too many Calories

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi I'm using the Versa 2, friends have told me that it is impossible for me to be burning the calories the versa is saying I have done, I only walked 14,000 steps the whole day actually went for a walk with the dog for 44mins and the calories said I had burned over 2,000 calories. Anyone else have this problem. I use my fitness pal and you earn calories back so I am not happy as if this isn't true I've been eating over my calories.

Help

Thanks

Jade

Hi, and welcome to the Community!

I think your friends may not have been taking into account your BMR calories.

As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing includes the total BMR calories burned since midnight.

For most people the BMR calories add up to more than half of their total calorie burn.

Ah ok so for the total 24hours my BMR and burned calories add up to the 2000 calories then?

Thank you

The actual calories you burn depends on your profile settings for age, height, weight etc (as well as your tracked activity) but getting around 2000 calories with that step count doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

I've just checked all the personal information age, height and weight and they're all correct, I hope it is right because my fitness pal gives you calories back from your tracked calories.

Thank you for your help

Just add your active calories into myfitness pal or record you walk using their exercise section. So the time and mph of your walk. But I agree, the total calories on the watch are confusing.

I don't add it myself my Fitbit is linked to my fitness pal and does it automatically, that's why I'm a but worried about the earned back calories. Maybe I'll just unlink it and just stick to the daily calories I'm allowed.

Thanks for you help

I got my Fitbit this afternoon. According to the stats ive burnt 1300 calories. Not possible as im sat infront of a pc working all day so its confusing me too! If im burning that amount of calories by doing nothing i should be skinny! Lol

It is because your body burns calories to be able to function. You are confusing it with calories you burn during exercise and movement.

I would, absolutely. Our body burns calories without movement. The calories you burn during movement or exercise are the ones you should be inputting to your app.
