Hi all,
I only got my Versa 2 yesterday and I bought it to track the calories in burning - I put it on at 1pm, went for a 5mile walk with my baby in a carrier and it said I had burnt 1700 calories?! Surely not. I'm 77kg, 26yrs old and 5ft 6in. So to me that calorie burn is incorrect?! I then read it just estimates how many calories you would burn even when doing nothing.
How do I know how many I burnt when I do exercise? I'm trying to lose weight so it's important I log the right amount!
Thank you 😊

As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing includes the total BMR calories burned since midnight and the numbers you quote don't seem unreasonable to me. I'll burn 1400 calories in a day even if I don't get out of bed!
If you are worried then it's worth checking your profile settings for age, weight etc as these directly affect the calculations.
If using the calorie count to help manage weight then it's important to include these BMR calories and not just those you get from exercise. You might want to look at setting up a food plan to hep with this. See: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1375.htm?Highlight=food%20plan
