Hello @DjStephLordPro. Welcome to the community forums. @JohnnyRow Nice to see you around and thanks for your input.

@DjStephLordPro Thank you very much for the detailed information. Adding to JohnnyRow's post, I'd like to let you know that Fitbit devices use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology to sync with phones, tablets, and certain computers. Fitbit devices won't sync over Wi-Fi; in fact, Wi-Fi is needed to connect your Fitbit watch to your Wi-Fi network to download playlists and apps from the Fitbit App Gallery, and for faster firmware updates.

Only Fitbit scales use Wi-Fi to connect directly to your router. For more information, I recommend visiting this help article: How do Fitbit devices sync their data?

Hope this helps.

Not absolutely sure, but I think setup has to be done from phone app.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Hi there, @DjStephLordPro. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post, I understand where your concern is coming from.

Are you trying to set up your Versa 2 or update the firmware version? May I know the model of your mobile phone? Please make sure it meets the requirements listed here.

Despite meeting the above requirements, the following devices often exhibit compatibility issues that cause our products and services to not operate properly:

  • Huawei P8 Lite
  • Huawei P9 Lite
  • Xiaomi Mi 6
  • Huawei P20 Lite
  • See these additional instructions for help resolving any issues using the Fitbit app on this device.

If you're having setup issues, see Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

On the other hand, if you cannot complete the firmware update, see Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

I have a versa 2 and I am wondering if you can sync your information with the watch connected to Wi-Fi and not with a phone over Bluetooth!! I have already set up the watch with a phone!!

Syncing does require communicating with phone via Bluetooth.  Then phone communicates with main Fitbit database/computers via wi-fi (or I guess phone data).

I have an iPod touch, which is the only device I have that could possibly sync to my versa 2! But I try to download the app and can’t because my software version is to old! I look at the settings for an update but It says I’m on the latest! My version is 12.5.4! So how can I download an older version of the app!!

Best Answer

Hi @DjStephLordPro  you can't get the older version of the app. You have a friend or family member who might have a way for you to get set up?

I'm trying to download clock faces and apps on my Versa 2 through the desktop app, but when I click on the product I want it just shows the loading screen and does nothing else!!

@DjStephLordPro  did you update to a newer operating system on your ipod? The information you've been given above answers your question. Sorry, but there isn't much else to do other than to find another way to connect your Fitbit.

Like I can't use it because the only thing I have to connect it to is my iPod touch, but I can't even do that since the app reqiures a version 13.0 ar higher, my iPod only goes up th 12.5.4!! I don't like that, I don't have a phone I can use either. I barely get to use people I trust phones. My Fitbit would crash on me if I didn't connect it to a mobile device(Not concidering a Laptop), like after at least two weeks. Then when it does sync to my Laptop, it doesn't update the stats on my watch!! I don't know whats going on but I do think something may need to change!! Thats all for now, have a great day people!!!!

@DjStephLordPro you have to sync the data from the Fitbit in order to see the latest stats on the dashboard, just as @JohnnyRow posted above. What operating system is your computer? What will need to change is how you set up and sync your device. Fitbit's going to keep going forward as we all get the newer phones with the newer operating system.

I think the App should be able to do the same as mobile device apps!! Like to setup your Fitbit device like the Versa 2 for Instance, and update the stats on the watch!!
