Versa 2 won’t connect to phone for Spotify or GPS if Fitbit app isn’t open

Hi,

Used to have an android, now have an iPhone. Worked flawlessly on the android, but on my iPhone I cannot connect to my phone for GPS when running or to Spotify to control music unless I open the app, sync, and leave the app open.

Any ideas?

The Spotify app on your Fitbit Versa 2 doesn’t support offline music playback, so your paired phone must remain nearby with the Fitbit app running in the background and connected to the internet. For more information about how to control music with your watch, please visit this article.

Regarding the issue with GPS, please visit this article, open the menu "How do I allow my Fitbit device to use my phone's GPS sensors?" and follow the instructions.

Thank you for your answer, but I believe you may have misunderstood. Perhaps I wasn’t clear, sorry.

My phone is with me when I am running (and want to use GPS) or when I want to control Spotify. 

My Fitbit will not connect to my phone if I do not open the app, force a sync, and leave the app open. This was not the case on my android phone - I could connect any time, even with the app closed and regardless of when the last sync was. My Fitbit will not connect to my iPhone with the app closed.

The Fitbit app has some differences between iOS and Android devices. In iOS devices, the Fitbit app must be running in the background and it won't connect to your Fitbit Versa 2 if the app is closed. This is an expected behavior.
