Versa 2 won't connect with phone

Hello, I received Fitbit VERSA 2 as a Christmas gift.  I have spent hours attempting to successfully sync the Versa 2 to my iPhone and every attempt was a failure.

 

I have read many community suggestions and NOTHING works.  I have the Versa 2 fully charged, I have turned off every other blue tooth device in my house,  My internet connection is strong.  During setup, I successfully get to the Fitbit App where the app reports: "Found it".  The screen has a big green and white checkmark, and at the bottom of this screen is a circling gear and the words, "Connecting to device".  And then nothing happens, it never connects. 

 

If you have any help, please respond.  If I cannot successfully sync, I have the Versa Box and receipt and will return it to the store tomorrow.  This is unfortunate because I was looking forward to the benefits of VERSA 2.  Also, it is a present from my wife and taking it back to the store will be sad.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
