Versa 2 won't pair! I was trying to fix syncing, then did Bluetooth "Forget device" suggestion...

Questions at end...  🙂

A few days ago my Versa 2 stopped syncing with the FitBit app on my iPhone 7. I'm in range of wifi, and it didn't sync on its own after a day, so I tried all the usual steps of stopping/starting the phone's Bluetooth, rebooting the Versa, rebooting the phone, stopping/starting the FitBit app... Eventually I tried the suggestion to go to the phone's Bluetooth settings and "forget the device." Done! That was the easy part... but now the phone's Bluetooth won't find the FitBit again, and the FitBit app doesn't find it either when I try to set up the device thru the app. I've tried all the usual steps again (listed above), and STILL no pairing with the FitBit app. The app just spins and searches but doesn't find the tracker.

Logging in to my account, I also see that my Versa 2 is now totally absent. It seems I didn't just tell the phone to forget it, but apparently completely un-associated it from my account.

So I hope someone has a whiz-bang solution: how do I get the tracker and the app to pair again? In the meantime, I do have a few questions:

1. I understand that the tracker pairs through the app rather than through the iPhone's Bluetooth settings. However, under the iPhone's Bluetooth settings, should I at least expect to SEE the tracker listed, even though I don’t connect to it there? Currently, the phone's Bluetooth isn't finding the tracker; it just spins and keeps searching...

2. In order to pair the tracker through the Fitbit app, does it make a difference if wifi is turned on on the tracker itself? (Is that even possible? On the Versa 2 there's an "IP Address" setting but it just says "Wifi off" and does not appear to do anything.)

3. I'd like to confirm that my Fitibit is up-to-date on software, but can't do that unless it pairs with the app on my phone.  If wifi IS possible to the tracker itself, can wifi somehow be used to do an update directly to the tracker? Was just thinking that maybe something went out-of-date on me.

4. Could it be advisable to do a Factory Reset? I haven't loaded anything onto the tracker (like music or apps) so I would probably only lose the last few days of data...)

Looking forward to any help or guidance. Thanks.

Removing the tracker from the phones Bluetooth will not remove the tracker from the fitbut app or your account. A user never wants to remove a non syncing tracker from their account. We still need to fix the communication problem that caused the sync problem.

A user can not pair the tracker to the phones Bluetooth, they connect the tracker to their account, then the app will pair the tracker.

Let's try the sync steps

Hi, Rich,

Funny you should link to that Sync Steps page, since that is precisely where I found the instruction to "Forget this Device."

And it's the subsequent step -- "Open the Fitbit app and set up the connection again" -- that didn't work out as planned. The instruction says, "You should receive a message asking you to allow your Fitbit device to pair with your phone," but I don't get that far because the app never finds my Fitbit in order to ask me that question. When I open the FitBit app, I go to my profile to "Set up a device," and as I go through the steps I get to the part where the app is supposed to find my Fitbit, and it just spins and spins and can't find anything. Eventually it suggests 1) I make sure my FitBit is charged and turned on (it is); 2) I restart the FitBit (I have, several times, with no effect); and 3) I stop and restart the phone's Bluetooth (I have, several times, with no effect).

As I noted in my original post, the phone's Bluetooth never finds the FitBit device either. Even though that's not where I would actually do the pairing, shouldn't the phone's Bluetooth at least *see* the FitBit?

Still stuck. Unless the app sees the device, it can't pair with it; and unless they're paired, we can't solve the sync issues.

Bumping for visibility.

I'm mystified that following the suggestion to have Bluetooth "forget" the device seems to have not only unpaired my Fitbit from the app but also un-associated my Fitbit entirely from my account. And now without being able to re-pair, I'm dead in the water.

😕

OK... Let's for a second assume I *don't* have the Fitbit app on my iphone.  Question: Should the phone's Bluetooth see/find my Fitbit device?

Did you ever find a solution?  Mine is doing exactly the same thing.  I too, said forget this device as instructed and now my blue tooth doesn't find it as well as my app.  Let me know if you resolved this, I'm interested to hear what you did.  Thanks!
