Versa 2 won't receive notifications from my phone

For the last week my Versa 2 is not receiving any notifications except for call notifications. I have followed all the steps in the troubleshooting guide. I have restarted my Android phone multiple times, I have unpaired and disconnected and reconnected bluetooth, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app. The Versa 2 is up to date. I have checked sleep mode and do not disturb are not on and that the apps I wish to receive notifications from are checked. I have disabled and re-enabled notifications. However the app still tells me the notification service isn't working and to restart my phone, which I have done. The only notifications I receive are calls. I am at a loss as to why this has started to happen and how to resolve. Has anyone else this problem or any other actions I can try??

Hi there @MLMel, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 2 isn't receiving notifications from your phone. I appreciate your time and efforts in fixing this issue prior to posting here.

If you're getting the error message “Notification service is not running. A phone restart is required to re-enable notifications on your tracker”, please note that we’re aware of it and are working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

If you're not getting the error message, but having issues with your notifications, make sure you've followed these steps: Why are notifications delayed or missing?

I'll be around if you need further assistance.

It seems these issues have been happening for 2+ months? Any update on when resolution will occur?

Hi,

I was given a Versa 2 for my birthday yesterday and I have synced it with my iPhone 7+. I am struggling with Whatsapp notifications. In the App Notifications menu I do not physically have whatsapp listed thus I am unable to enable notifications for Whatsapp. I am receiving Insta notifications s I believe my phone and watch are synced correctly. I have scoured numerous forums and tried all kinds resets and enabling options but Whatsapp seemingly will not appear in the App notifications menu in my Fitbit app. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is the notification I am getting and this is one of the only reasons I have got a fitbit versa so I can quickly see notifications when I am at work and can't get to my phone encase of emergencies with kids. When will this be fixed as I am tempted to send it back if not

Thanks

After seeing the 'Notification Service not running. Phone restart required message for almost a year', I had practically given up on my fitibit. My first fitbit was a versa lite, which I handed over to my wife and I bought a Versa 2. Same issues with notifications on both with my Oneplus 6.

About 5 days ago, I dug up a post which threw some light on how to get the notifications activated, especially on a one plus. Since I'm unable to locate that original content, I am paraphrasing to the best of my memory: One Plus devices have some serious battery saving optimisations built in. Hence, it's all about going and making a small change in the settings of your device. I did exactly that, and since then, I've been getting notifications (so much, that i've had to enable the 'do not disturb' on the versa now and then). Now here is the step by step guide to what helped me;

1. I uninstalled the app first and then reinstalled it (you can also open settings, apps and notifications, choose fitbit, open storage and cache and clear storage)

2. Then re-login, into the app and connect the device with your phone via the fitbit app

3. Go to settings on your phone, select 'apps and notifications', select 'app info' and then select the fitbit app in the list of apps on your phone

4.  Select Advanced and then select Battery Optimization

5. In all probability, 'intelligent control' or 'optimise' will be pre-selected.

6. Change it to 'Don't Optimise'

7. Voila! You are done!!!

PS: Don't forget to enable notifications on the fitbit app after the re-login.

I have re started both devices and still not working. I work in IT so I
think the issue is mainstream and not just located to myself
