Been having issues with Fitbit versa 2 staying connected to my iPhone during exercise... therefore it’s not mapping my run, bike, or walk. Any suggestions?

Hi @Tschach. Welcome to the Community forums.

Thanks for sharing that your Versa 2 isn't staying connecting to your iPhone when tracking your exercises. Let's work on this together! Before anything else, please make sure the Fitbit app and your Versa 2 are updated to the latest version. Also, set the location services to "Always" for the Fitbit app.

Then, I'd recommend to try the following steps:

  1. Go to the Bluetooth settings in your phone and forget the Versa 2 from the list.
  2. Turn off the Bluetooth in your phone.
  3. Reboot your phone and restart your Versa 2.
  4. Turn on the Bluetooth in your phone, open the Fitbit app and sync your Versa 2.
  5. Tap on your profile icon > Versa 2 and turn on the All-Day Sync. When prompted, accept to pair your watch via Bluetooth.
  6. Open the exercise app on the Versa 2 and start your exercise.

I have my watch and app updated, did that a couple of weeks ago and I don't have that option to all-day sync.

My watch is always losing connection with the app and only connects again if I “forget” the connection and try again. All the time.

Welcome to the Community, @ewertonazevedo.

Thanks for joining this thread and your efforts while troubleshooting your watch. Before anything else, let me clarify that the All-Day Sync option was removed from the Fitbit app in previous updates since all our Fitbit devices are able to sync in the background as long as the requirements are met.

I understand this isn't the case with your Versa 2 and please try reconnecting it to the Fitbit app:

  1. Forget your watch from the Bluetooth settings.
  2. Turn off other Bluetooth connections nearby.
  3. Force quit the Fitbit app and reboot your phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app, tap your profile picture > Set Up a Device.
  5. Select your Versa 2, tap Replace Device and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hi,

After some update a while ago on my android phone the same thing started happening.  After switching to an iPhone the same thing started happen with the last update.  The recommended not fix from this forum is stupid, no one should have to constantly restart their phone, the watch and forget pairing.  I would have to do this every time my watch is more than 10 feet from my phone.  I have found going to Bluetooth setting and manually reconnecting the watch before opening the Fitbit app works, keep refreshing the app it may take a few tries for the app to work.  Until they push an update to fix this it will have to do.  Maybe be finally time to switch to Apple watch

Welcome to the forums, @Cdnfenix.

Thanks for the details and every step tried on your own. While the steps shared above were suggested to reconnect the Versa 2 and Fitbit app, I understand your point of view as this isn't a troubleshooting that needs to be performed regularly. I'm sorry for this experience and I've requested a case on your behalf so you can receive further assistance. You'll receive an email shortly from our Support team, keep an eye on your inbox.

Hi,

just a little update.  The watch went 2 whole days with out loosing Bluetooth connection, but is back to having to reconnect several times a day.  This last time it lost connection was in the middle of a watch face download, so now the app is stuck on switching to that face.  I still don’t understand what’s going on was fine for almost a year on my iPhone.  Like I said before the same thing started happen on my old android phone.
