After doing an update on my phone 3 days ago, my Versa 2 now won't sync and I get no notifications on my watch.

Before considering other options, could you please confirm if you already tried all the steps listed here to resolve syncing problems? In addition, make sure to check the compatibility requirements listed here and to keep the Fitbit app updated to the latest version available.
Regarding the inconvenience to receive notifications, make sure to follow all the steps listed in this article. Keep in mind that you need Android OS 8.0 or higher or Apple iOS 13 or higher on your phone and that you won’t see notifications on your Fitbit device if you turned on the Do Not disturb Icon or Sleep Mode.

Try removing the watch from your account using the fitbit app on your phone and re-installing it, this fixed my issues - good luck!

Thank you for your help. I have finally got it working. I was persistent and everyday I followed the steps for days. Then eventually it worked!
