Versa 2 won't sync my texts and phone calls to my watch

I got a phone and the versa 2 will sync to my  steps and heart rate but won't allow text messages and phone calls to come through on it. I keep getting a message to verify my email address but when I try it won't go through.  Is this why the texts won't sync up?

I just got a new phone and I can't get my calls or texts to come through either.
