I recently got a new mobile phone (Samsung S21). I'm trying to pair my FitBit Versa 2 with it, but I can't do so. The phone searches for a while then informs me that I need to make sure my phone's Bluetooth is switched on and the Versa 2 is nearby. Both these conditions are met, but I still cannot pair. Why is this?

Hi there, @happychick53. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for sharing the details about the issue with your Versa 2. @SunsetRunner Thanks for your input.
It seems that your Versa 2 cannot connect properly to your new phone since you haven't yet forgotten the connection between your watch and the old phone's Bluetooth which would explain the connectivity issues you're running into. With that said, try the steps below:

You pair it in the Fitbit app, not in your phone's bluetooth settings.
