Versa 2 won't sync with my phone anymore

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I purchased the Versa 2 in January, 2023, and now it won't sync to the app and it won't keep time. I have done literally everything from resetting the watch, it uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and even got two new devices and tried to sync with them as well. It will not sync. I am very frustrated and disappointed. I got this device to help me manage my health, and I can't do that if it will not sync up. Please help!

Hi @DOlds2016 - it seems there is a problem with the phone.

Did you remove the Bluetooth entry from the phone, Logout of the Fitbit App and swipe off the active window and in Android clear the storage cache and force stop it and then restart the phone.

Make sure there are no other devices running the Fitbit App switched on.

Restart the watch by holding the button for 10 seconds till it vibrates and the logo appears and wait for it to start.

Login and wait for any pair, link or Fixit prompts and sync, and if necessary in the Fitbit App click profile photo and "+ Set up a Device" and replace.

Hi there, @DOlds2016. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 2 and your time in trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 2 before reaching out.

As @Guy_ has mentioned, please try the following steps in the order listed:

  • Unpair your Fitbit device from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Fitbit device.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Fitbit device.
  • Once your Fitbit device is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

Before trying the above, please be aware that most Fitbit devices store up to 7 days of detailed minute-by-minute data. If you wait longer than 7 days before syncing, you may only see the most recent week's detailed data. Summary data (calories, distance, steps, and floors) will be stored for 30 days. Nevertheless, if your Fitbit device was unpaired from your Fitbit account during this period of time, neither the 7 days can be recovered or restored.

So this is something I am going to have to do every time I want to sync it? If it syncs, it lasts about 10 min if I am lucky. And it won't keep time either.

Hi! I just got my watch back from the "repair center". I had sent it in because the screen was not working properly.  I had an extended 3 yr warranty on it, so it was no charge and I got it back in about a week.

Now  it won't sync worth a crap!  I NEVER had that problem before I sent it in...but now it spends more time trying to connect than it does actually being connected!  It is also not even staying connected to the charger because I can hear the two sounds (connect * disconnect) and it constantly switches between the two sounds, which tells me it's not connecting.

According to the "repair ticket"....it said they "reset and updated firmware" and it also says "passed AC leakage test and passed all function tests".

Every now and then it will sync, but I guess in so many attempts to sync, it kills the battery pretty quick.  It "used" to last about 3-4 days before I'd have to charge it. NOW.....it's a matter of hours!

Don't want to say they made it worse...because they DID get the screen working, but if it only syncs every once in a blue moon...it's almost as bad because you KNOW it's a working watch IF IT WOULD SYNC reliably!

Hi @Wolfie1038 - unfortunately if the watch developed a fault, and the screen wasn't working, changing the screen only fixes part of the problem.

If it was under warranty it should be replaced entirely, otherwise you may end up having a working screen but other parts may not work properly still.
