Versa 2 won't sync with my phone app

I have a HTC U ultra with Android 8 version. Initially after first sync the phone app is unable to sync with the watch. It happened after very first syncing. After that I reset my watch to factory settings and synced the watch. It got connected to my phone and watch app firmware was updated to 35.70.7.21( as is being shown on the watch).However, after that phone is not syncing and I am getting a message on the phone app that a software update is available which I am unable to download nor the phone app is syncing. Kindly help
