Hi @Archie62 - to clear any residual problems try restarting both watch and phone, if you haven't already.
Installing a new firmware is unlikely to resolve the battery issue, and may be will make it worse.
First check which features are enabled which are using up the battery. As a guide check How to resolve the Major issues causing short battery life
Not all elements may apply to your watch but it's a good place to start.
If your watch is working fine otherwise and is resolved by managing features and settings stick with that version of firmware until you have consulted the forums for problems experienced by users who have updated the firmware.
