Versa 3 Controls won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

The Versa 3 Controls that control the Calls and Input Device settings from the phone's Bluetooth settings continually disconnects.

Here's what's happening & what I've been doing.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s10 phone.

The Versa 3 was added to the app and the Versa 3 Controls were working but when I got a call it didn't come through to the watch after the first day. So when I went into the phone's Bluetooth setting & found the Versa 3 Controls were paired but didn't show "connected". However the app and watch synced fine.

So I forgot the Versa 3 Controls and disconnected it in the Bluetooth settings in the watch. I then re-paired the watch with the phone and the Versa 3 Controls showed "connected for calls" again.

However after a certain amount of time this disappears and the watch doesn't take on wrist calls anymore. However, the watch & Fitbit app sync just fine.

So I go into the Fitbit app, click the "On Wrist Calls" button then back into the Bluetooth settings of the phone and it shows "connected for calls" again in the Versa 3 Controls. Then, again, after a certain time, it disconnects.

Round & round it goes, but after about 2 more times it just doesn't work doing that anymore and I have to completely forget the Versa 3 Controls in the Bluetooth settings and re-pair it again. Then it disconnects & I start the process all over again. Meanwhile, this whole time the watch syncs just fine with the app. It just doesn't take the on wrist calls.

The watch is 3 days old.

I've also removed the watch from the app & re-installed it. That didn't help either.

Any ideas?

By adding them to app notifications in the notifications section of the Fitbit app.

Hi @Emma79350 what steps are you doing and at what step does it fail.

This should be as easy as pairing a speaker.

Remove the Versa 3 controls from the phones Bluetooth

On the versa, turn controls off if allreadycon.

Turn on Versa controls, they are now in discovery mode.

On phones Bluetooth these controls will show up under available devices.

Tap and approve connection

If you actually read MY comments, you will see I am no longer having any issues with my versa 3. All is now connected and working as it should.

My iPhone 11 Pro Max is having the same issue

Same issue with my samsung galaxy s8 plus.  It have added the versa 3 control and vera 3 to the bluetooth list but will not connect.  I have had several different fitbits and had not problems until now.  This really needs to be corrected for the price we all have paid.

And what issue are we having @Beth_Farran and @Burksta

Where you able to pair the Versa 3 Controls to your phone?

When you say the controls are in your Bluetooth list. Do they show as a paired (trusted) device or as an a soluble device?

If you are trying to pair the controls.

At what step does the pair process fail. Any error messages.

They should not show up as connected.

You will not be able to connect controls. If controls show up in the list of trusted Bluetooth devices. These controls should connect during an incoming call.

Are you able to answer Calls from the Versa 3?

Best Answer
When I open the on wrist calls, I get a message that says cannot connect
to versa 3 controls on top of the done button.

The versa 3 and versa 3 control is in my bluetooth list but when I try the
test call and answer, I get a message that it cannot answer.

Also when I click on the settings icon on versa 3 control, the phone and
input devices are off. When I turn them on and rest back to off.

@Burksta you have me confused. What do you open with on wrist controls? They should pop up when a call comes in.

You are correct in that when, through the Fitbit app,you will not be answer a test call. This is because it is not a real call

Can you answer real incoming calls?

No, my watch does nothing when I get a call or a text. and if that yet is
not intended to work then it should not be there.

You need to make sure your notifications are set to on, on your phone, to receive texts calls etc.
My advice, contact Fitbit via Twitter. They sorted my issues out in no time, and all have been working without a problem since.

I have already done that and have not heard from them yet.

Then we are asking about a notification of phone call issue. Not a versa 3 control issue.

Do you get text notifications?

You may want to contact Fitbit and have them walk you through the setup.

Well, had the same problem and renaming the connection worked. I called my mobile and was able to respond via Versa 3.

Don't ask me why that works...

All features are working on my Versa 3. Bluetooth Versa 3 Controls show “disconnected” when calls are inactive, but when I receive a call it connects every time. These controls then reflect “connected” when a call comes through. I love the wallet app as well.

Having the same behavior. Controls never say connected, but it always connects on an incoming call. Confused me at first, too.

Controls are not suppose to stay connected. The controls are a trusted paired device and will connect when they are requested to connect.

Keeping controls connected at all times will cause the battery to drain.

It is the same for the Versa which will only connect when needed.

There is nothing to be confused about. Think of it like a door which is locked. When a person has needs to open the door, this person has been trusted with a key and they easily unlock the door. The person does not stand with there hand on the door but only touches the door when they need to go through the door.

I have the same issue and NOTHING works. There is absolutely no reconnection. App and phone sync just fine. I, too, have tried everything. It just doesn't connect to Versa 3 Controls for calls or input.

Absolutely does not work!
