Versa 3 Controls won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

The Versa 3 Controls that control the Calls and Input Device settings from the phone's Bluetooth settings continually disconnects.

Here's what's happening & what I've been doing.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s10 phone.

The Versa 3 was added to the app and the Versa 3 Controls were working but when I got a call it didn't come through to the watch after the first day. So when I went into the phone's Bluetooth setting & found the Versa 3 Controls were paired but didn't show "connected". However the app and watch synced fine.

So I forgot the Versa 3 Controls and disconnected it in the Bluetooth settings in the watch. I then re-paired the watch with the phone and the Versa 3 Controls showed "connected for calls" again.

However after a certain amount of time this disappears and the watch doesn't take on wrist calls anymore. However, the watch & Fitbit app sync just fine.

So I go into the Fitbit app, click the "On Wrist Calls" button then back into the Bluetooth settings of the phone and it shows "connected for calls" again in the Versa 3 Controls. Then, again, after a certain time, it disconnects.

Round & round it goes, but after about 2 more times it just doesn't work doing that anymore and I have to completely forget the Versa 3 Controls in the Bluetooth settings and re-pair it again. Then it disconnects & I start the process all over again. Meanwhile, this whole time the watch syncs just fine with the app. It just doesn't take the on wrist calls.

The watch is 3 days old.

I've also removed the watch from the app & re-installed it. That didn't help either.

Any ideas?

Fitbit Support is wrong!

@buffgrandpa what is it that doesn't work? Or what is it that is not working?

I used to get everything on my Versa 3, email, calls, texts, calendar events, Alexa notifications, etc.. Then just recently everything except the emails stopped. I tried reconnecting to my home wifi when I was there. Tried connecting to Versa 3 Controls, but only the Input would connect. Now that doesn't even connect. I turned off the notifications then back on several times, even restarting or shutting down and restarting my phone. I even shut down the Versa 3. Nothing! Yesterday, at the advice of other posters, I just unpaired from Versa 3 Controls. The only change I've noticed so far is that I also get texts now. The V3 doesn't always stay connected to Alexa. I've often had to restart my S10 to get a the V3 connected so Alexa reminders will be sent to the V3. Don't know what to do.

I’m having same problem too brought versa 3 it won’t stay connected to my iPhone XR

it works ok on iPad but won’t sync to phone or stay connected . Have tried a chat with Fitbit useless & then said as it works ok on iPad it must be apple contact them useless

@SunsetRunner you will need to choose one device. The Sense controls will not be able to stay connected with both devices if both are close enough to communicate with. This is a limitation of BT, not Fitbit.

Now, my Versa 3 won't sync to my network at all. Something happened the
last time I used Alexa and in that moment it stuck. I've gone back to my
Versa 2.

Does that mean choose my phone or the Fitbit? That's a no-brainer. I guess
the Versa 3 goes back in the box and the Versa 2 comes back out of its box.
Thanks for your replies, @Janrad.

Yep switched Bluetooth off on iPad & hey presto phone works

Now on the iPad remove the Versa 3 controls.

@buffgrandpa I'm saying do not try to connect Versa 3 controls to both the iPad and the phone. That also goes for syncing. Choose the phone or the iPad.

Thanks for your advice, but I don't have an iPad so that can't be the issue. I do have a Tab S6 (Android version of an iPad) that I will check; that might be the issue since now my V3 doesn't sync with my S10 at all.

Got similar advice from this community. Don't have an iPad, but I do have a
Tab S6 (Android version of the iPad). Will turn off the Bluetooth and see
if that helps.

This thread is not about sync problems @buffgrandpa it is bout the Versa 3 controls and its ability to answer and talk through the wrist.

With sync problems, yes if a user syncs through a tablet and a phone and they are both on and nearby, the user will have sync errors.

Mine is doing the exact same thing. My calls will come through for a day and then it's disconnected again and no calls or texts come through. This is very frustrating. Will probably be returning. Very disappointed with this fitbit.

I'm having this same problem - I got my watch in February and it sporadically connects by Bluetooth but it is infrequent and completely unreliable.  This was a feature I had anticipated using a lot.  My coworker has an earlier Fitbit and seems to have no trouble with her connectivity.

I tried reaching out to product support and from there I ensured I had the latest version and updated the Fitbit and it still will not work for incoming calls or messages.

Generally while my phone says that it has paired, the watch doesn't show the pairing as having completed, and then...nothing.

I can't spend all day trying to connect my watch, and this seems like a significant issue with it.

Thanks,

Mine does not work at all either. I can’t get it to connect at all. Like you said it syncs or says it does but the controls will not connect at all. When phone rings it shows on watch but will not let me answer. I feel that since the watches are not doing as promised then Fitbit needs to replace it with what will work for free. This is ridiculous the whole reason I bought it was a better deal. But I paid almost $300.00 for mine.
I have an iPhone 11 Pro. It definitely should work w/out issues. I’m so upset over this.

Exactly!! Surely Fitbit knows this. I've heard nothing about this from them
or through any other media. Like you and others, I'm ready to send it back
to them for a full refund.

I actually figured out how to make it work. You have to go into your
account on your phone, and then into the Versa 3, then into notifications,
and in there there is something called app notifications, and buried in
that is the place where you select what apps you receive notifications for
on your wrist. It is totally ridiculous that they buried the notifications
like this, but since I ticked off the things I want notifications for, my
watch is working perfectly. I also don't think this option or area was
always available...I got my watch in February, I'm not an idiot, and I've
tried repeatedly to fix this issue.

Keep your phone and watch no more than 2 feet apart. Best is, your phone is screen-on ... Then message notifications and phone calls function will work ...

@AJP_SSI the app notifications are not burried, but easily found under the notification settings under the tracker settings as explained in the help docs.

This however should not be related to the Versa 3 controls which are setup through the phones Bluetooth settings as explained here

@exlixx the distance really depends on the phone and the environment. BT 5.0 can be good up to 150 feet. When outdoors I usually only get a Max of about 80-100 feet. My phone does have BT 5.0. If a users phone has BT 4.0 the distance will be shorter.
