Versa 3 Controls won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

The Versa 3 Controls that control the Calls and Input Device settings from the phone's Bluetooth settings continually disconnects.

Here's what's happening & what I've been doing.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s10 phone.

The Versa 3 was added to the app and the Versa 3 Controls were working but when I got a call it didn't come through to the watch after the first day. So when I went into the phone's Bluetooth setting & found the Versa 3 Controls were paired but didn't show "connected". However the app and watch synced fine.

So I forgot the Versa 3 Controls and disconnected it in the Bluetooth settings in the watch. I then re-paired the watch with the phone and the Versa 3 Controls showed "connected for calls" again.

However after a certain amount of time this disappears and the watch doesn't take on wrist calls anymore. However, the watch & Fitbit app sync just fine.

So I go into the Fitbit app, click the "On Wrist Calls" button then back into the Bluetooth settings of the phone and it shows "connected for calls" again in the Versa 3 Controls. Then, again, after a certain time, it disconnects.

Round & round it goes, but after about 2 more times it just doesn't work doing that anymore and I have to completely forget the Versa 3 Controls in the Bluetooth settings and re-pair it again. Then it disconnects & I start the process all over again. Meanwhile, this whole time the watch syncs just fine with the app. It just doesn't take the on wrist calls.

The watch is 3 days old.

I've also removed the watch from the app & re-installed it. That didn't help either.

Any ideas?

I am having the same trouble and my watch is only 3 days old as well!

the answer about it not supposed to remain connected doesn’t seem right- if I have to manual connect to the controls every time I sense a call or text coming in that I want my watch to intercept it defeats the purpose.  There has to be a better solution?

Thanks for the information. I have the same problem where calls and texts just stop coming through on my watch. Mine is 18 hours old. It's very frustrating.

So your saying, every time I want to use such controls I have to go to settings and turn them on?? That’s terrible

@Crystal77  Correct, you have to manually check your bluetooth settings. Unpair Versa Controls,  go to the app in the section "on wrist calls" follow the process and pair "versa controls" again. I do that every morning...and sometimes twice a day.

@Rich_LaueI noticed that your answer is flagged at the best one but I don't understand why this topic is mark as solved.
you said " Keeping controls connected at all times will cause the battery to drain. It is the same for the Versa which will only connect when needed. "
From my perspective the Versa don't connect when needed and you are well aware about the bluetooth pairing issue I mentionned above. Lot of users have to do it manually

I am very frustrated, as a lot of customers, and will investigate this issue if you have a bug bounty program. I have no reason to do that for free and it would be a pleasure to make Fitibit/Google pay for their mistakes.

back to my 2 questions :
where is the resolution in this topic "maked as solved" ?
do you have a bounty program ?

@TryDebian best answers are usually chosen by the original poster.

As for  marked as solved" Fitbit changed this to" best Answer" a few years ago.

I'm not aware of the above pairngissue. My Sense Controls show in the list of trusted devices, but I never see the Sense Controls listed as connected, except while talking through the watch during a call.

For me, the controls simply work. Even with the Sense removed from my Fitbit Account, Sense controls work and Notifications still show up and I can respond on the Sense.

As for notifications on the Tracker, this has nothing to do with the Versa 3 or Sense Controls. The controls are used during a call and when responding to a text. They show up under Bluetooth as a connected keyboard.

I am having the same issue of course I tried reconnecting to the Versa 3 controls. It shows up on my Bluetooth list but when I try to connect it says

“ unsuccessful, make sure controls are on” o check and it is on. After deleting the device altogether I can get it to connect but in a few hours or a day at most the whole cycle starts over. It just won’t stay connected.

Does this mean the Versa 2 doesn’t have the same issue ? I’ve been considering doing the same.
Thanks for your input!

Are you able to answer calls through the arm? My controls didn't stay connected but would still connected when requested.

Hi Rich. When it happens to stay connected I can take calls on my wrist. It just doesn’t always stay connected. Actually it rarely stays connected. Today I’m exchanging for the Versa 2

Yup I have had the same problem.  I viewed the best answer you your post and it says like a key to a door when you need to use it you have to pare the controls.  Okay but my watch in general constantly pairs to my phone.   so when that happens so should the versa 3 control.   other wise the same logic with the key in the door would apply and every time you went to look at your watch you would have to pair it.   It is a bit annoying for sure.   I know I watches DO NOT have this problem.   So why cant fit bit change this?

I'm lost paint simply means that you have set the two device as trusted. This way when a connection is requested, tge connection is made without asking the user for permission.
