Versa 3 Controls won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

The Versa 3 Controls that control the Calls and Input Device settings from the phone's Bluetooth settings continually disconnects.

Here's what's happening & what I've been doing.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s10 phone.

The Versa 3 was added to the app and the Versa 3 Controls were working but when I got a call it didn't come through to the watch after the first day. So when I went into the phone's Bluetooth setting & found the Versa 3 Controls were paired but didn't show "connected". However the app and watch synced fine.

So I forgot the Versa 3 Controls and disconnected it in the Bluetooth settings in the watch. I then re-paired the watch with the phone and the Versa 3 Controls showed "connected for calls" again.

However after a certain amount of time this disappears and the watch doesn't take on wrist calls anymore. However, the watch & Fitbit app sync just fine.

So I go into the Fitbit app, click the "On Wrist Calls" button then back into the Bluetooth settings of the phone and it shows "connected for calls" again in the Versa 3 Controls. Then, again, after a certain time, it disconnects.

Round & round it goes, but after about 2 more times it just doesn't work doing that anymore and I have to completely forget the Versa 3 Controls in the Bluetooth settings and re-pair it again. Then it disconnects & I start the process all over again. Meanwhile, this whole time the watch syncs just fine with the app. It just doesn't take the on wrist calls.

The watch is 3 days old.

I've also removed the watch from the app & re-installed it. That didn't help either.

Any ideas?

How is this the best answer? You must be confused. You should not have to go into your Bluetooth app forget Fitbit controls then go to your Fitbit app and reconnect Fitbit controls every time you want to have a phone call on your Fitbit.

Go to bluetooth app forget versa 3 controls

Go to Fitbit app reconnect versa 3 controls

And repeat like everyday or every time your phone resets

@KingArdoin the best answer, chosen by the person who authoured the thread, simply explains what should be happening.

No you should not have to do this everyday.

I would check for, and install any updates to the phone. Since controls connect directly with the OS and not the fitbit app.

That doesn’t work either. Fitbit tech takes you through the same process. They replaced my watch. Same problem.

does not help. Still disconnects.

That doesn't answer the question. I never get messages or emails anymore (though I used to), though calls come through. Or should I say it rings on watch but I can't speak. Much u a on, settings are to take messages - it is truly a device with too many glitches. My whole family with special watches never have these problems.

This is exactly what happens to me. Same phone too.  I have to continually unpair, forget, and re-pair to get on wrist calls.  For the answer that said controls don't stay connected, this doesn't make sense, as I don't know when calls will come through and whether the versa is connected at that time.  Sorta defeats the purpose of being able to take calls through the watch, no?

I have spoken to tech support many times, they even sent me a replacement which is doing the same thing. The same issue occurs on the Sense tracker. I have used Fitbit products fi over 10 yrs & this is the first one I have had issues with. It’s obvious Fitbit does not have a fix. This product should never have been put out in the market.

Thanks for your reply.  Maybe I'll return this one and get the versa 2.  My wife's versa 2 works fine with her S10.Thanks againSent from my Galaxy

I can’t believe this is still running.
Nor can I believe people still can’t work this out.

Its simple, it connects and it works!

After my initial issue, (which started this thread, a year ago, I have had no issues whatsoever with the call/messaging/calender connectivity.

I don't know what to say.  It works fine for a few hours, then magically disconnects, requiring me to log out of fitbit app, shut down and restart versa 3, and sometimes re-install the fitbit app.  Yesterday suddenly my exercise app wouldnt open and track anything.  All other apps worked. Last night everything stayed synced  overnight and worked this AM, including messaging, email, and calendar, but on-wrist calls wasn't working, even though the permissions are set correctly.  So I have to forget the versa 3 controls, re-pair, and then it works perfectly.  It's great when it works, but I shouldn't have to keep re-pairing daily.  And my phone is never farther than my pocket.

Yes yours is doing some of the things mine does. The last tech I spoke with told me not to be concerned with Versa 3 Controls. He had me turn off Bluetooth for 5 second then turn it back on. Then go to settings, scroll down to notifications, Then scroll down to Fitbit make sure allow notifications is on, in the alerts section just below you will see banner style set that to persistent. After that as long as I am in the house it stays connected or if the phone is with me it stays connected & calls & messages show on the tracker. If I go outside it usually disconnects but reconnects once I get in range. I also run the Fitbit app in the background & that seems to help. Is this the way it should work, absolutely not. This is the first tracker that has used the Versa 3 controls. I believe that is where the issue is & they don’t have a fix. I think I am going to see about returning mine & get a refund. My Versa 2 works perfectly. Good luck.

It connects and works for you, but, obviously not for others.

And there is the issue. You are right, it works for some but not for others. Versa 3 & Sense should never have been put in the market. Fitbit knows they have a problem with no true fix & should do a recall & issue a refund to customers.

I get every notification, just not calls. Done everything on this thread countless times. Sorted it again yesterday, got 2 calls, then the 3rd nothing. When I go in the app and select on wrist calls, it tells me its all set, then I get a pop up saying can't connect to Versa 3 controls. Its been like this for months. Got fobbed off by cutomer service, and probably at a point where I cant return it anymore. Sort it out Fitbit ffs. I would bo recommend them to anyone

One more thing for you all to check/test .... it is how far the BT can connect your watch to the phone.

When your watch is out of range, even all settings are correct, notifications would not come through.

I found that - at least in my case - the range is only around 1 to 2 feet.

I have spent tons of hours to diagnose the connection problem - unpair, pair, soft reset, hard reset, etc. etc. only then I accidentally realized the problem was  due to the "out of range"!!!!!

Other smart watch could give me a BT range as far as across a basket ball court so I didn't even think of the problem being due to the extremely short BT range of this Versa 3.  BTW, I have been using the same mobile phone for all these smart watches.

That's defo not my problem, my phone is in my pocket and the tracker doesnt connect to calls

I don't mean that is the only reason that caused the problem but you could still be "out of range" if your range is just like 1 foot.

You are having the same short distance issue as the rest of us. My Versa 2 & the other Fitbit trackers I’ve had have never had these issues. They were extremely easy to setup & that’s all I had to do. Fitbit has to know of the problem on the Versa 3 & Sense but apparently have no fix. These products should never been put into the market.
