Versa 3 Controls won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

The Versa 3 Controls that control the Calls and Input Device settings from the phone's Bluetooth settings continually disconnects.

Here's what's happening & what I've been doing.

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy s10 phone.

The Versa 3 was added to the app and the Versa 3 Controls were working but when I got a call it didn't come through to the watch after the first day. So when I went into the phone's Bluetooth setting & found the Versa 3 Controls were paired but didn't show "connected". However the app and watch synced fine.

So I forgot the Versa 3 Controls and disconnected it in the Bluetooth settings in the watch. I then re-paired the watch with the phone and the Versa 3 Controls showed "connected for calls" again.

However after a certain amount of time this disappears and the watch doesn't take on wrist calls anymore. However, the watch & Fitbit app sync just fine.

So I go into the Fitbit app, click the "On Wrist Calls" button then back into the Bluetooth settings of the phone and it shows "connected for calls" again in the Versa 3 Controls. Then, again, after a certain time, it disconnects.

Round & round it goes, but after about 2 more times it just doesn't work doing that anymore and I have to completely forget the Versa 3 Controls in the Bluetooth settings and re-pair it again. Then it disconnects & I start the process all over again. Meanwhile, this whole time the watch syncs just fine with the app. It just doesn't take the on wrist calls.

The watch is 3 days old.

I've also removed the watch from the app & re-installed it. That didn't help either.

Any ideas?

Yes, my point is ... Initially I thought the problem was with the settings.  I had spent tons of hours diagnosing, resetting and setting it ...

Then i discovered that actually all settings were OK and the connections/notifications were working well only when the phone and the Versa 3 were next to each other!!!!

Anything beyond 1 or 2 feet between the 2 devices, they would be disconnected and henceforth the notifications did not work!!!!!!!

Therefore if you can accept the condition that the phone and Versa 3 must be next to each other, the notifications do work!!!!!!!

For me, I have since returned it ...

Thanks for that clarification.

I find ocaisionly I have to go into the trackers (in fitbit app) settings and enable the phone calls.

I do routinely receive calls at 50 feet away from the phone.

100% agreed. Loved my versa 2 till it died. This versa 3 is a waste of money. Fitbit knows they screwed this one up but God forbid they admit it and make it right. I’ve been a repeat Fitbit customer; never again.

I have used Fitbit for over 10 yrs. Every upgrade has been excellent until Versa 3. Versa 3 is trash. Fortunately my Versa 2 still works. I no longer have confidence in Fitbit. They offer no solutions.

Joke aside, I do believe one of the causes of the frequent disconnection is due to the exceptionally short BT distance - about 1 foot max.

Experiment it by leaving your watch and phone close together for an extended period of time and see whether they will be disconnected ....

Good job. They don’t want to take care of the problem.

Oh my! It’s amazing how Fitbit is trying to cover up their disaster by not allowing people to express what an issue this has become. We put out the $ and they offer no fix or refund.

This thread has gotten way of subject and has become nothing but a He said She said.

Actually @BaxterG it is your fellow fitbit users, who are more than willing to help, but most will not respond to these types of posts. However the same users are quick to flag posts for moderators attention. Please review the Community Guidelines.

When it comes to the Sense Controls staying connected. They where never intended to stay connected. They do stay as a trusted device, and as a trusted device, should connect when needed. Is this an android or iOS issue, I have no issue with android.

If It was I, i would first revoke BT permission for the controls, and set them up again.

@exlixx yesterday I answered the phone, from my wrist, while standing in the middle of the clothing shop and my phone was in the backroom.

In regard to your statement that folks on this thread are eager to help. I have read through solution after solution, followed  their suggestions to no avail. I spoke with tech support several times and did not help. . As far as messages turned over to admin for review, have at it. I have used Fitbit for over 10 yrs upgrading constantly & I, along with many others, find the Versa 3 to be an inferior product.
