I am veyond frustrated! I have had a Fitbit Versa 3 for several years (3, I think.) Occasionally it would five me 10,00 steps right out of the blue. This would happen once every couple of months. For example, one night after midnight my Versa buzzed and I looked at it and saw the little shoe and 10,000 steps. (I was in bed!)
Last year at work we had a step challenge and I found it pretty embarrassing to have to deduct an extra 10,000 steps from one of my days when this would happen. One could only suppose that other participants would then wonder if any of my other high step days were "padded."
I tried researching this on Fitbit's support pages as well as just Googling it. All I could find was various complaints about inaccurate step counts. Like someone saying that their Fitbit didn't exactly match their other devices. And when I emailed Fitbit, they recommended resetting the device and I did that several times, only to eventually have it happen again.
Now, I could live with this but another step challenge was coming up. So, I was at Best Buy, checking out Samsung Galaxy and Garmin watches. All nice enough, but I really liked the Versa and I had just bought a bunch of great elastic bands that I find so comfortable. So I bought another Versa 3. I sold the other one for $50 after fully disclosing its tendency to add an arbitrary 10,000 steps. I also vowed to document any step abnormality on my new Versa.
Well, guess what? I went to yoga at 5?45 a.m., came home and showered, then picked up my mom for her doctor's appointment. I was driving home at 8:50 a.m. and looked at my watch to check my steps, expecting to see less than 2,000 and instead I have 22,100 steps. What the hell?
I have only had this new Versa bout 3 weeks. Is it me? Is it the watch? DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE?
As much as I love this Versa, I am leaning toward returning it and getting another brand. But I would really appreciate any feedback. (My daughter wears a Garmin and never has this happen.)Just noticed the extra miles!
And I believe that the calorie count is off, too.

Do you mean the 10000 steps animation? It's not a gift but notification you have reached your daily step goal goal. No steps are being added.

No, if you look at the picture, it shows I walked 22,000 steps. It was 9 am. I only had about 2,000.

I just finished a chat with Support and their solution to this problem was to turn off the Mobile Tracking in my Fitbit app settings. According to them, that means that Fitbit would be tracking both my Versa 3 and my phone. Although I understand that it would be a problem, wouldn't it be a problem ALL the time, not just every few months? And the one night I woke up around 1 a.m. with my wrist buzzing and my watch telling me I just got 10,000 steps, my phone (as usual) was on the nightstand beside me. So I don't get how this happens, but at this point I'm willing to go with it. I'll keep an eye on it and update this in 3 months.
