Versa 3 battery drains quickly after the update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since my versa3 firmware was updated 3 weeks ago to version 36.128.5.38, the batterylife is only 1 or 2 days now. Before it was round 5 or 6 days. Besides the update nothing changed on my versa3 also not in the way I use the watch. Do other users experience the same issue?

Come on I bought this watch only on Dec. 31 2020. It's barely 6 months old...

The reason I chose it over iWatch is because of its long battery life... what the heck...

So on Friday  I charged my Versa to 100%, turned off snore settings (which were new) and today I am at 59%.

So that must have something to do with it, which sucks as I would like to use it.

Hi Marrefitbit,

Please would you like to answer the 2 questions I asked the 10th of July regarding the battery drain during the hours my versa3 is fully switched off via settings (!), what happens since the latest firmware update?

And/or if you do not have the knowledge regarding this, please let me know who within Fitbit can be contacted  for this new introduced(technical) issue of my versa3?

Thanks in advance andxwith kibd regards

A follow-up: I notice that if I switch OFF the watch more than 24 hours the battery will drain like hell (the latest incident: from 87% to 47% in a little more than 24 hours) but if the OFF time is less than 24 hours then no noticeable bat draining is observed.

Will keep monitoring if this rule is valid at all time.

Thanks for your reaction.

Every night the battery of my Versa3 drains between 30% and 40% during the round 7 hours when the Versa3 is fully switched off (via settings). This happens exactly since the latest firmware version was installed on my versa3 (version: 36.128.5.38). Before that installation my versa3 did not have any battery issues.

I am still waiting on an clarification from Fitbit (Marrefitbit who is active on this forum once in a while).

I bought my wife a Versa 3 for her birthday last week, purchased within the last month. The first problem she had was with the heart zones, she was exercising hard but was even reaching the fat burn zone, something to do with an improvement upgrade. The jury is out on that one. Now she too has the problem with a short battery life, having read may of the previous comments from community members, there is advice on turning things off or dimming the clock face to save battery life. Surely Fitbit this defeats the object as the Versa 3 then does not perform the functions as promised, o

Overselling perhaps?

As a final point, my wife is very disappointed with the Versa 3 and wish she had not upgraded from the Charge 2, I am now considering a return and to ask for a refund.

Please FITBIT no more stock answers, fix it before your customers loose confidence in the product.

Looks like there isn't any Rule of Thumb to avoid abnormal battery draining. I switched it OFF last night (9pm) at 73% and this morning (8am) it was 53%. Then I switched it OFF and this evening (9:30pm) it was still 53%.

BTW I'm at GMT+8

As a developer myself I feel it's not so hard to debug. Just to check which process is still running after the watch is OFF and which one has the potential to drain battery like hell (e.g an infinite loop or something)

AND the next problem is, the annoying message to register cards, she does not want to use the Fitbit to pay for things, her phone does that. How does she stop this message, it slow down her use of the phone

If I don’t get a fix for this within the next week I’m sending it back to Amazon for a refund. Fitbit still haven’t said they are aware of the battery drain issue presumably from the coach app constantly trying to update.

I’m very disappointed in Fitbit not communicating to there customers about this issue.

No Fitbit moderator bothers to come over and say something...i'm pretty sure this will be the last and only Fitbit product I'll ever have

Next step Fitbit is for me to seek support from my Computer Magazine, absolutely no threat intended, I just do know where to go next for help in resolving three problems with my wife’s brand new Versa.
1. Heart rates zones are set at default for an athlete, it would seem

2. Repeated request to register banks cards, she doesn’t want to use Fitbit pay. How can I turn this off

3. Finally, battery drain well within 2 days.

Hi Marrefitbit,

Please would you like to share the status (at Fitbit side) of the issue I reported a few weeks ago regarding the batterydrain of my Versa3 during hours (in night) the watch is fully switched off? In average 35% batterydrain during 7 hours the versa3 is switched off. This happens exactly since I installed the latest firmware version 36.128.5.38. Before that version my Versa3 had no issue with the battery at all.

Please let me (and other versa3 users) know what the versa3 is doing when switched off and how to solve this.

Thanks and regards

I asked several times for technical support from Fitbit for the batterydrain of 30-40% during every 7 hours (in the night) my Versa3 is completely off (switched off via settings) exactly since the latest firmware update. Before the update this was not the case. But no serious reaction from (a representative of) Fitbit itself at all.

Is no one from Fitbit active on this forum anymore, to support solving (technical) issues? Does anyone know?

FitBit support finally got back to me with this "solution".

If the Fitbit Coach is still trying to install, we'd appreciate if you follow the instructions listed below:
Connect your Fitbit Versa 3 to Wi-Fi. Go to fitbit app > account > Versa 3  >  Wi-Fi settings.
Restart the phone, force sync you device.
Open app settings, and wait for it to finish installing the Coach app, then delete it.
If the above doesn't work, please uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app.

Even though I had tried these steps before, I decided to try again and this time it worked.

I don't know if there was an update pushed out by FitBit just prior which fixed it or if it was exactly following these steps.  I say a push from FitBit because I also received an email from FitBit saying they were pushing out an update to resolve this issue with Coach, just before I received the email with the steps above.

In any case, Coach is finally uninstalled from my FitBit.

Hope this helps everyone.

Hi Mnah2002,

Thanks for your reaction!

But I do not see a (Fitbit) app named "Coach" trying to be installed on my Versa3 (I do not see a Coach app at all). So I do not think this is the issue for my watch.

This battery draining issue is still there after upgrading to 128.6.12. I had no choice but to leave the watch on at all times even when I'm not wearing it.

If it's always on, the battery can last a few days with around 15% reduction of bat per day. If I switch it off, it could drop 40% within 8 hours...

Really don't understand why it's so hard to fix this issue...I'm pretty sure I would be able to fix it if I were in the dev team...

I have the exact same problem and no reliable fix. Maybe lasts 2 days now.
