Versa 3 battery not charging properly

This a follow-up to a previous post I made in Dec. 2024: I have been trying all sorts of troubleshooting on my watch, and as a last resort, I have disabled everything using it only as a means to check the time and my heart rate. Last night, I decided to fully charge the watch, which never happened as it stopped at 99%, but then turned the watch off during the night. This morning, I turn it on, and to my surprise the battery had dropped to 80%. After leaving it on for about 30 minutes, the percentage now shows 89%.

I always take care of my devices, and I know how to troubleshoot all sorts of problems, since this is what I do on a daily basis. Short of trying to take the watch apart and replacing the battery myself, I have tried everything to rectify this issue, but with no result. I just thought I should let you all know that the watch, and even more so the app are problematic.

HI @LambrosG - charging to 100% on this watch model can become an issue with age.

Can you try charging to 95% about, wait 2 hours then charge it to 100%, it should charge normally if the battery level hasn't fallen too significantly.

Charging to 100% can take 2 hours if done in one go, it has a problem doing the last 1%.

I recommend using the SimpleClockPro clock face as this indicates expected charge times and allows good charge monitoring, as it keeps a charge log and a daily log.

That said, a watch that uses more than about 1% per day [plus 1% to turn on] when it's off may indicate a fault.

To be certain always monitor the battery level from the Quick Settings screen, in case there are other issues with syncing or clock faces.

It is certainly unusual that the battery level increases.

I've only been using the default clock face on the watch, and from the beginning, the battery would drop about 5% per day which seemed just fine to me. A two year old watch shouldn't have a battery issue, especially when I'm not fiddling with it all the time. From what I can see, there aren't any places I can take my watch to get it fixed, as in an authorised service center in Greece, so I guess I may take the risk as some point and try to open it up myself and replace the battery.

@LambrosG - in all probability it is not a battery issue per se but the circuitry over using it or corrosion especially if it got wet or even a software issue.

One week later, and I've had to charge my watch twice. The charging connectors appear to be fine, with some scraping from when the charger snaps on to the watch. I haven't used it at all while exercising and removed nearly all notifications.

I did not expect this to happen less than 3 years into the watch's life after normal and careful use. I am seriously considering moving to another manufacturer after this and several other problems, along with the fact that Fitbit has decided to move all our data over to Google just so they can have more data to play with.

And to think I recently bought an Aria Air that won't be usable with other platforms.

This is strange. The battery is working fine all of a sudden. No changes on my end, no update notifications, and I haven't charged it in more than 5 days. What services did Google stop running in the background that were draining the battery?
