Versa 3 button is activated when I bend my wrist

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently got my Versa 3 and I love it.  Only issue I am having with it is the button pressing when I am not touching the watch. I discovered that when I flex my wrist downward that the button is somehow being activated even though the button isn't anywhere near being covered. But if I slide the watch further down towards my elbow that it doesn't do that.  But the watch naturally sits where this issue is occurring. I'm not sure what is happening..  I've attached a photo of what I am talking about.fitbit.jpg

The watch should be worn higher up the forearm than that (one to two finger widths above the wrist). If you let it dangle below the wrist bones like that you’ll have all sorts of complications with it.

Hi there @SunsetRunner, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm happy to hear you're loving your Versa 3. Thanks for the photo attached in your post.

Note that you might unintentionally press the button on your watch when you bend your wrist. This may happen during activities such as a workout that require you to move your wrist a lot.

With that being said, as @SunsetRunner recommended, please try wearing your watch higher on your wrist to avoid hitting the button. For tips on how to wear your watch, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?

Let us know how it goes.

I have the same issue and in the winter when I wear gloves it keeps pausing my exercise

Does this happen if you wear the watch on the other arm? Or on the underneath of your wrist>

I have been having the same issue. It is SUPER sensitive. My wrist does not cover the button. I can even control it by pressing firmly on the bottom of the watch (the side closest to the button).

Wearing the watch higher on the arm does help, but it also looks a tad funny as it is not where I would usually wear a watch.

I am having the same issue & I wear mine higher up on the wrist. I have had to tighten it so that it won't slide down when I sweat & it still pauses my workout. One day I did a 45 min workout & it only logged 20min, another a 20 min workout was logged as 6 min, for 2 examples.

This is so frustrating I had to purchase another heart rate tracker for more accuracy.

Please help as I really like fitbit & don't want to go to another tracking system.

I have had the same issue it helps with the original Versa band but the Versa 2 is much better. I switched to the iwatch I am very disappointed in the touch button now. FYI Physical button works stop trying to fix a good thing.

I have just bought a fitbit versa 3 and it was the first thing I noticed as soon as I put it on my wrist! The "side button" is simply not a button but rather a pressure sensor and fitbit has chosen the location of the button as a sweet spot. Whether you are wearing the watch or not, I have noticed that you can activate it by even taking the watch off and squeezing where the straps connect at the top and bottom of the watch, you can also activate it by pressing on the screen. There are loads of ways to do it so fitbit need to figure out a way to change the sensitivity on it or just make it work. The watch it great overall but that is not just a "simple flaw" that you can ignore. Doing simple movements is activating fitbit pay (as that what my long press does) and it's really annoying and so far I'm not impressed.

I have watched the video's on how to wear the Versa 3 and bottom line is that it still does not work well for me. The button keep's activating by my movement. I have made the switch to another smart watch but miss the Versa it's too bad that the button or lack there of makes it un-useable for me.

Problem isn't how the person is wearing it, as he is bending his wrist away from the watch. I am having the exact same issue. It seems to be a flaw in the manufacturing/design of the button that pulling on the watch bands activates it.

Yup. I'm having the exact same issue on the right wrist. I also tried wearing it higher up, but have to tighten it to keep it there so it I end up with the same result.

During exercise, I had to loosen it to stop it pausing the workout. Ended up at the point where it was so loose I doubt I was getting an accurate workout reading.

It just seems odd that they would specifically mention that you must cover the button completely for it to work and yet it happens without it. Perhaps they should also mention that you can only wear it on your left wrist? 🤷‍:female_sign:

Afraid it also keeps happening to me on my left wrist! So frustrating! I’m so disappointed as this was a much anticipated Christmas gift and so far every run I’ve tried to track has cut off half way through because my sleeve brushed the button. 😞

This is wild - my workouts all get cut off. The watch is constantly turning off and on when i sleep too and it wakes me up.

I'm not gonna "wear it higher up" I'm gonna wear it like a watch and ultimately it seems it isn't designed to be a useful watch. What a failure.

Hi @Skoko416  - it would seem an issue for left handed people.

Try wearing it on the other side of your arm or on the other arm.

Although only a partial solution you could rotate it and use SimpleClockPro-L clock face if you need to wear it on your right arm. The watch has no general rotation feature.

I wear it on my left arm. I think i just have flexible wrists. This watch isn't really useable for me.

Same for me. All my workouts are getting cut off. If it is going to cut off the workouts, theres really no reason to wear it. I have even had this thing activate and cut off running. Sorry, but unless a firmware update comes out that allows us to fully deactivate the button, it is kind of useless.
