The button on the side of my versa 3 is very sensitive to water. When I wear it in the shower or to do dishes, it opens the Alexa voice assistant. Why does it do this? I'm not pushing the button when it happens, water is just coming into contact with the watch.

Hi @Jlewis19 Yes, I agree that that happens. I think that is one of the reasons Fitbit suggest that you remove it to shower, even though it is water resistant. When you swim with it and use the swim exercise app, the touch screen is turned off.

Hi there @Jlewis19, welcome to the Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that the button of your Versa 3 is very sensitive to water, I understand where your concern is coming from and you must be feeling.
As it has been happening, note that you might unintentionally press the button on your watch when you bend your wrist. This may happen during activities such as a workout that require you to move your wrist a lot. That being said, please try wearing your watch higher on your wrist to avoid hitting the button. For tips on how to wear your watch, see How do I wear my Fitbit device?
Also, please check: Can I swim or shower with my Fitbit device?
Thanks for helping out @NellyG. 😉

I tried wearing it higher on my wrist and it still does it. I know they're supposed to be water resistant to a certain amount but this makes me wonder if I should not get it wet.

Hi there @Jlewis19, thanks for getting back. As you may know, Versa 3 is water-resistant to 50 meters. However, keep in mind that not all of our accessory bands should get wet, like those made of leather, metal, and woven materials. For more information, see our Wear and Care page.
Water resistance may diminish over time and can be negatively impacted by any of the following:
When your watch gets wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. If your device comes into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser (like Cetaphil) and dry it with a lint free-cloth.
Let me know if you have any further questions present.

I always dry it good when it gets wet which is very rarely now as the sensitivity to water still activates the Alexa app, and I just have the original band that came on the device. I'm not hitting it with my arm or anything I've tried wearing it in multiple spots to test that, so I just take it off now in the shower and when doing dishes and things that would involve coming into contact with water. Not a huge deal but a little disappointing as I never took my versa 2 off except to charge and clean and dry it. Any ideas though on when the update may be coming out to be able to accept phone calls via the mic on the watch?

I can second this, wearing on left hand, not pressing button, but in water my versa 3 is behaving like I'd press button and screen randomly. Reboots, starts apps, asking pin, etc. And if I actually try to press the button, it does not react, so cannot check the time.
I'm deeply disappointed

Response I've had from fitbit is that this is "expected behavior." I'm not sure how it's expected behavior for a watch that's touted as waterproof with swim tracking capabilities. My $90 amazfit bip worked flawlessly in water. I too am disappointed that fitbit is choosing not to address this.

this did not happen to me with the physical button on the versa 2. i get the desire for sleek technology but it's a loss in usability and functionality.
i would encourage user testing regarding the button styling on all wearable devices

Mine does this too and it drives me crazy. And if the screen has any water on it, buttons don’t work when you do touch it. So disappointed. It does crazy things when it gets into the water.

Yup, me too. Its a massive pain. I have switched Alexa off on the Versa 3, but as soon as it gets wet it starts a 'set up your voice assistant' screen. Surely Fitbit could do something about this with a firmware upgrade? Combined with the woeful performance compared to earlier models working with my tattoos, I'm seriously thinking of ditching this device and moving to another brand.

Hope you guys found answers, I have a similar issue with each time my versa 3 gets wet it starts up the "find my phone" app and my phone starts a blaring alarm. So seriously disappointed -- I had a versa 2 that I wore in the pool 3x a week with none of this issue. This Versa 3 can't even get wet in the shower without my phone alarm blaring.
