Versa 3 does not show me laps while swimming

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Why does the versa 3 not show me laps while swimming. My main sport is swimming and this is very disappointing.

Also my new watch doesn't notify me when I reach my step count

Please fix or help me

Unfortunately you can only see the laps in the app not on the watch itself.

Yep, same for me. its very disappointing. I also cant seem to get my lap length to stay at 17, it keeps going back to 25! it feels like this watch has gone back in time with some of its features.

Best Answer

Lap length is ok (25m) but no lap count or distance while swimming. That is a great dissapointment. I can see it only in the app. 😪

This was my main question as well. I had an Ionic that did this very well, but hate that the charge 4 doesn't do it, really wanted to upgrade to versa 3 but if the swimming laps or the distance isn't measured that is a major disappointment for this new Fitbit!!!

I have the same problem with me showing more data while swimming and mainly showing the number of laps swum. I bought this watch mainly for swimming (but also other sport profiles and to get more exercise), and assumed that the watch would show the distance swum and the number of lanes swum.

It is a pity to then come to the conclusion that it does not display any jobs on the watch itself and that you can only view this information in the app afterwards.

I would like to view the data while swimming in a similar way to walking. The watch seems to be fairly accurate in measuring distance while swimming. However, I am very satisfied with this.

After some research I think the ionic, versa and versa 2 do have this function, but I'm not 100% sure. So I definitely expect this feature on the versa 3 in the future.

I expect the functionality, to view more data in the exercise app on the watch while exercising, in a future update. I would like to know the distance swum, number of laps, swum time per 100m, ...

Especially when on the versa 2 from my huisband, he can see the laps and time while he is swimming 😪

I bought the Versa 3 recently as its GPS battery longevity is supposed to be better than Ionic. I too am very disappointed that it does not track laps in the pool. Has anyone raised this with FitBit? You would think it is a simple feature to enable. I am considering returning my Versa 3 and reverting back to the Ionic. I thought the Versa 3 would add features not take them away. 😞

Same thing on my side. My first Versa did this without any problem. Now it broke right after the 2 year warranty . Fitbit offered me a discount on the new versa. And now I realize that they have removed this function. Very disappointing as swimming is my main excercise I am doing. I will return the fitbit an have to switch to a different brand after 9 years with fitbit.

I bought this watch during lockdown and one of the reasons for buying it was the belief that it would record laps swam. This is disappointing to find out that the watch will not do this.

Fitbit ,please supply a fix.

Fitbit Sense shows all of this during swimming and I don't know why in Versa 3 they removed this. I am very disappointed too

Fitbit still hasn't fixed this.  I had a Versa2 until it started working erratically and then stopped working after just over 2yrs.

So in Swim tracking mode it shows me the Time(which i can see on the clock on the wall) and the stopwatch keeping track of my swim time.  NO # of laps, NO distance swam, NO 4-lap (100-yd) split time...ALL pertinent info I need to see when swimming laps. And DID w/ my Versa 2 until it stopped working properly after just over 2yrs, BUT NOT options to see on your watch while swimming w/ the "new & improved" Versa 3!

How do you come out w/ a supposed "new & improved" product that gives you less?!?!?!

This is ridiculous!!!

I have major issues w/ this problem w/ fitbit.  Please fix this asap to give us these options, otherwise I see no reason to keep this watch, and will definitely be encouraging all others to buy another brand.

Also, in the Set Goals function of Swim, it only gives you the option to set a time goal.

Really?

We've advanced technology, and all you can show us on our watch during a swim is the time, and the only goal you can set is the time?  Sounds like very outdated and old technology to me.

I also had trouble getting the watch out out of Swim mode when I was done.  It took several tries, and longer than my 30 min swim to get it to End andet me out of Swim mode.

Fitbit needs to address these issues, features, and options to provide us a better product than this!

Just bought a Versa 3 mainly for swimming too. And I don’t care about the time during swimming. I want to check how much distance/laps I have covered. Just a small change requested for so much time. That is not acceptable. Should at least give us some feedback on the impediment for getting us the distance during swimming.

This Versa 2 showed the total yard count why doesn't the Versa 3? Is this a battery saving feature to limit computation on the watch? If so, perhaps consider making this an option i would trade battery time for being able to see my total yards during a swim on my watch.

I have exactly the same issues. Versa 3 is not fit for purpose with regards to swimming

Hi Fitbit… we need this feature… other wearables have it… I hear the previous version of the versa has this feature.

I mainly swim. I was told this product could track my swimming. It must do so in the background since the data is available once it connects with my phone.

Unfortunately the data about distance covered isn’t surfaced on the screen during a swim.

Can you please let the customers know what is being done about this? Is there a software update in the pipeline?

Thanks.

Hello @Thomasfahey

As far as I understood reading other similar posts no firmware update can solve this issue as Versa 3 doesn't have the required hardware sensor (gyroscope?) while Sense has it. Unfortunately Fitbit is not clear in its product description to highlight the difference.

I switched to a Samsung Watch 4... Does exactly what I need for pool
swimming, counts Laps, distance and time, no issues so far

Hi, i have the same type of issue, Versa 3 only measures the pool length at 25 meters, it is 33. So the data it shows  distance, 100metre speed is all wrong. Getting frustrated now, looking to move to Garmin which has a much better swimming watch 😞

Next gadget will be a Samsung then. As I’ve only just bought this can’t afford to change it. So I’m stuck with an inferior watch that doesn’t do what I wanted it to apart from tell the time.
