Versa 3 heart rate and calorie not tracking accurately

Just received versa 3 for Christmas. It’s not reading heart rate properly during exercise. I have contacted support they had me turn off auto recognize, I have disabled, removed versa 3 from IOS and set back up again. Still no fix. I consider myself to be a fitness guru as I have been working out for the last 32 years and know what my heart should be. I can’t even get the versa 3 above 110 BPM at my max (which normally is at 155 -185 BPM depending on workout). I am so frustrated with this.

I was walking at work last night to and from point a-b and my heart rate was showing higher than my regular workout of the morning (95bpm). Obviously there is something wrong with this version of Fitbit. I have owned several over the years but nothing this bad. It appears this is a common issue between the versa 3 and sense.

this morning I decided to get an accurate assessment of how off this is by doing a short HIIT workout and using the Ionic vs Versa 3. I put the ionic on my right wrist and versa 3 on my left wrist. I have a screen shot of the results but cannot attach to this thread. Even with 7 minutes of high intensity I could not get my heart rate above 99 BPM on the versa 3. (143 on the Ionic). The difference between calorie burn is:

versa3 - 7:20 min

  • 84 bpm avg
  • 99 bpm max
  • 37 calories burned

Ionic - 7:15 min

  • 119 bpm avg
  • 143 bpm max
  • 63 calories burned

I used “workout” for each watch to get the results.

my quick HIIT workout consists of the following:

1. 10 burpee tuck jumps

2. 30 push-ups

3. 30 tricep press-downs (50LBS)

4. 30 decline sit-ups.

these were down with little to no rest between each set. Just to get my heart rate up for this experiment.

The difference between the two are extreme and when using exercise app on the watch it does not register heart rate accurately.

please help and get a fix for this. My wife is having the same issue with her versa3. We are not new to Fitbit and have enjoyed them until now.

I hope the above information can help solve the issue with this Fitbit.

thank you for looking into this.

Do what the rest of us did. Stop waiting for these people to care about the quality of the product, get your money back and get a Garmin. Best decision I ever made.

@MarreFitbiteveryone here has followed these instructions more or less and it about time that Fitbit come to the party and fix the issue or at least come clean with customer that these devices sense & versa 3 are beyond any repair. One can understand & put up if there is a consistency.

BTW I've given my versa3 to a friend's son because I couldn't be bother going through the hassle of ringing support to be told that it is somehow customer's fault that HR readings are wrong.

But the Irony is that my daughter dumped her sense to me due to similar HR problem.

Got a versa 3 today for Christmas, the exact same problem. My charge 2 was showing my heart rate as 172 on the elliptical, the versa 3 was showing 118. Completely bummed me out, I was really looking forward to the upgrade. Replaced it today with the Charge 5, let's see how that works. Was really looking forward to upgrade to a watch, but guess it was not meant to be.

Hi. I was wondering if this problem has been fixed?

I just bought the Versa 3 last week. I noticed that I had set it to track exercises on Monday, and it did not end up tracking it. So I added it in my log.  Today, I did make sure to see it start (The 3.2.1. countdown), and did Barre. I did move the tracker once in a while if I realized we were not using our hands.  I am really trying to be as accurate as possible with my food and exercise because I need to lose weight for blood sugar reasonns.

Your best bet is to refund the Fitbit and get a Garmin like myself, and many others, have done. Not only have they not fixed the issue, they haven't even addressed it yet. They likely won't do so. Save yourself the stress and just move on.

Which Garmin did you get? I am a regualr excerciser, however, I'm not hardcore in the sense that I work out for an hour formally, then the rest of the day, I'm just moving.I do Cardio Kickboxing, dance, Barre, Pilates Yoga, I guess my question is If I'm using it mostly for indoor exercises, is the cost of the Garmin Worth it? I did look at one of the Polars as well, before settling on Versa. For the same reason. Was it worth it, if I'm not training for anything?

I got a Garmin Venu. A black watch with a gold rim. Looks stylish when dressed up but still functional as the watch I need. Plus,. the heart rate is always accurate. Proof that it can be done. Fitbit is just being lazy.
