Versa 3 is not tracking my distance accurately

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since Saturday Versa 3 has been counting my milage at a fraction of what it really is. I'm on a walking holiday with my partner so can verify the numbers are way off (eg. 0.7 miles for me and for 10.8 for him). Steps are still accurate. Restarted phone and Fitbit. Device has location permissions enabled. Any ideas? I'm sad to be losing the milage for the most active week of my year! TIA x

Hi there, @BouncingBean. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 3 and taking the time to troubleshoot it before reaching out.

Fitbit devices use the formula below to calculate distance. Your stride length is determined by your height and sex. Steps x Stride Length = Distance Traveled

Please note when you track an activity with GPS, your device calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, your device calculates distance using your steps until GPS connects.

To update your stride length, track a run with GPS or measure your stride length manually. For more information, see Can I change my stride length in my Fitbit account?

For more information about GPS, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?

As a friendly reminder, please note it's normal that you see a difference when you are comparing your data with another person, this is because Fitbit devices record your data based on your personal information (age, gender, weight and height).

Thanks for your help! I've double checked and my height is correct. I'm still confused as to why this has happened suddenly when my distances were previously accurate.

I've been many walking miles every day, at least 10,000 steps, but the totals are coming out as around 0.2 miles which is completely incorrect! Not sure what to try next.

As an additional note, I've checked my stride length and it's accurate so I think the error is coming from the calculation as the steps and stride length are both what I'd expect. Many thanks again for your help, any additional assistance would be welcome!
