Versa 3 is not tracking my floors accurately

Versa 3 is not counting floors correctly again.   Is there any solution to this besides reseting and downloading the software, AGAIN?

Hi @RogerF  - downloading the software won't help.

If you have restarted the watch and the issue continues it would be good to know what the problem is exactly to get the correct resolution.

Versa 3 starts missing floors: 1 out of 9, then 2 out of 9, and then 3 out
of 9.
And then I will go for one of my hills walk, and it will record half, or
maybe a third. Why do I say that? I will do a factory reset, and start
the “day” over. When I do the same hill walk, I record 67 floors vs, 37.
And when I did a long hill (13+ miles vs. maybe 10), the results were even
worse.
I know the distance don’t equate to hills, but the constant incline does.
And put the salt in the wounds, when I return home, I go up two floors, and
it mostly records one (and no, I don’t stop between floors).

@RogerF - see a detailed floor count explanation here How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

As you experienced floor count problems on other devices it may be more a difference of expectation vs realisation.

The minute pressure sensor can be affected by cleaning so check the watch is clean and the holes are not obstructed but don't poke in the holes as that can do damage.

The algorithm that detects steps has to match elevation change, so for instance holding the bannisters while going upstairs or taking 2 steps at a time, or going too quickly or slowly can affect registration.

You can only expect an approximation of floor count which incidentally does not have any effect on other measurements so is merely informational.

If you want to investigate the pressure sensor try the SimpleFloors app which was made for an older firmware but you may find it useful.

That is mostly a standard response, but it is not really helpful.
Done that, did that
Nothing new
