Versa 3 is stuck on sleep mode

Hello

My Versa 3 randomly reset itself a few days ago.  It’s set itself as dim brightness, turned off ‘motion and button’, and turned on BOTH ‘do not disturb’ and ‘sleep mode’ - yes, this should not be possible.   Do Not Disturb’ will not turn off and gives a message ‘locked for sleep mode.  Turn off sleep mode to change this setting’.    Sleep mode will not turn off and gives a message ‘locked for Do Not Disturb.  Turn off Do Not Disturb to change this setting.

I have reset the Fitbit 5 times (which is difficult, it keeps going to alarm settings and yes, I know to fully cover the button with my thumb). In between resets, I’ve removed the Fitbit from the app and set it up again.  I’ve deleted the app completely, reinstalled it and re linked the Fitbit.  I’ve done all that with hard reboots of the iPad in between.  I’ve done all this again.

I’ve easily wasted 6 hours on this and am massively frustrated.  I’ve had fitbits since 2016.  I got the Versa after the Fitbit charge stuck on ‘dim’ and clearly had a wide ranging issue.  It looks suspiciously like yet another firmware upgrade gone wrong that wasn’t tested properly before it was released.  Again.

I’m now stuck with quite an expensive watch that barely works.  Again

I rarely get so annoyed by things that are relatively trivial, but I’m on Google looking at apple watches and Garmin devices after being a loyal customer for many years.

Please  sort this out!

@Ferny Thanks for the details provided in your last post.

As our last resort, I suggest performing a factory reset on your Versa 3 by following the steps below:

  1. Don’t plug the Fitbit device into the charging cable.
  2. Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off.
  3. After the screen turns off, you’ll feel a short vibration:
    1. When you feel the vibration, release the button and immediately press and hold the button again.
    2. Wait until the blue logo appears, then disappears:
      1. Immediately release the button and then immediately press and hold it .again, until you feel a vibration.
      2. After you feel the vibration, release the button.
        • This vibration indicates you started the factory reset.
        • After the Fitbit logo appears, the Fitbit device shows the image with the phone icon and setup indicator.

Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account, your applications, alarms, etc.

Let me know how it goes.

Hi there, @Ferny. Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. We‘re taking your comments and sentiments in regards to our products into consideration.

As per the description of your post, it seems like you might have a sleep schedule. Sleep mode turns off automatically when you set a sleep schedule. To set a schedule:

  1. Open the Settings app and tap Quiet modes.
  2. Under Sleep mode, tap Schedule mode > Off-hours.
  3. Tap the start or stop time to adjust when the mode turns on and off. Swipe up or down to change the time, and tap the time to select it. Sleep mode automatically turns off at the time you schedule, even if you manually turned it on.

You can't turn on do not disturb and sleep mode at the same time.

Hope this helps.

Hi

Thanks for the attempt to help
When I tap (repeatedly) on schedule mode as you suggest, nothing happens
Sleep mode and do not disturb mode ARE both set as on. I can attach photos
if you like.
There’s clearly a problem

Not at all well
As is documented, the button is difficult, particularly for those of us
with small hands. Every time I press the button, it shows the clock face
then automatically the alarm screen. I have got as far as the blue logo
once, then released, pressed and held, waited for the vibration and
released, but nothing seemed to happen and it’s back to the original clock
face with the same old problem.
I got my husband to try it, it didn’t work. His comment was ‘this is ****’
I’ll keep trying. Goodness knows why.

@Ferny Thanks for trying the steps I recommended above.

Please let's try a second method for the factory reset, so on your Fitbit device, open the Settings app > About > Factory Reset.

As recommended above, please make sure to sync your Versa 3 before performing the factory reset.

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you
That worked. 4 of us tried 17 times to factory reset the other way and
could not get it to work. Perhaps Fitbit might reconsider the design of
the button…

I am having this same issue.  I have my Off hours set from 10 pm to 7 am and the sleep mode is still on during when it is not those hours.  I have reset my fit bit and changed the clock and like I've seen other posts say to do.  And it still doesn't work.

Oh dear.
It’s a pain.
Mine only reset when I did a full factory reset, which obviously loses all
the settings. It was difficult as pressing the button three times in a row
effectively didn’t work either.
Hope the official moderators can sort something out for you
Good luck
