So my Versa 3 recently has started WILDLY overestimating my calories burned. I'm hitting 3,500 calories by 8:30 am without even exercising. According to it I burned 26,000 calories on Monday. Any advice on this?

I have the same issue.
Have already restarted and uninstall and reinstalled the app, with no success.
It was working ok until.some weeks ago. Then ot started doing this on some days, but still rare. Now I cannot trust the results as it does it everyday. It counted, for example, 134 calories in a period when I was sleeping. I normally spend much less than that,.of course.

I am terribly sorry to say that, but this type of answer is so frustrating!! When we come here saying "it is not calculating the calories as it should", it is normally because it is outside the normal pattern. I check the watch regularly, I use the app, I check all the stats and all the graphs regularly. So if I say something is off, it is because it is off. The issue is not that I do not understand how Fitbit calculates the calories.

@jordsvc - the point about how calories is calculated is that it depends on things like heart rate which is known as not reliable during exercise.
It also uses night time heart rate for the calculation and if you take it off at night or leave on charge a long time it can only estimate.

Yes, I understand all of that, I have researched answers before coming here.
The point is: it worked in a certain way until a couple of weeks ago and now it changed completely the way it works, regardless of whether it is during activities or not.
And there is no clear answer for that. It is not that I changed the way I use the watch and this caused the change. There is a problem and Fitbit does not solve it.

Hi there, @cneats. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your Versa 3.
To better assist you, would you mind double checking what @Guy_ has recommended? Please note that entering your personal data (weight or other profile settings such as height, age etc.) is key when it comes to your calorie data. Also, please make sure the units of measurement are correct. To update your profile, see How do I change the units of measurement in my Fitbit account?
Fitbit devices combine your basal metabolic rate (BMR)—the rate at which you burn calories at rest to maintain vital body functions (including breathing, blood circulation, and heartbeat)—and your activity data to estimate your calories burned.
Your BMR is based on the physical data you entered in to your Fitbit account (height, weight, sex, and age) and accounts for at least half the calories you burn in a day.
Was my post helpful? Give it a thumbs up to show your appreciation! Of course, if this was the answer you were looking for, don't forget to make it the Best Answer! Als...

Yes I checked what Guy had said, and my weight is accurate. At 200 lbs I just burned 500 calories in the last hour sitting at my desk! That's way above typical BMR. One thing I just noticed is that I double checked my units was calories and not KJ but somehow neither option was checked off (I had checked it this morning). Could this be some sort of glitch that has an impact? My heartrate has been steady at 60 bpm.
