Versa 3 map not showing any street names

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've just used the GPS to map a walk on my Versa 3. The walk has tracked correctly, but when viewing the walk in the Fitbit app, the map only shows the route. It doesn't show any of the street names on the map. The old version of the app used to show this information. Is there a setting I need to switch on for this to show or has it been removed?

----

UPDATE: I decided to check some old walks and runs that I did before updating the app and the maps now also dont show any of the street names. They just show the route taken. Looks like this is an issue with the new updated app as it worked fine before updating the app.

----

UPDATE 2: I managed to reinstall an older version of the Fitbit app before it was changed to the new version and the maps appears as expected with the street names showing. It is definitely an issue with the new app.

I was informed by Fitbit management that they knew this update was going to down grade their maps.  Wierd how I made complaints for 3 weeks and all the fitbit employees said they would escalate my complaint up to the next level as if they didn't know the problem was there.   For now they have more or less said we have to put up with the new maps.

Good evening Juan:   I received a message from your management team over a week ago that Fitbit had planned this update knowing that there was going to be no further street names or locations attached to the GPS maps.  In short, this degrade in service was a planned event.  Some how this degrade is going to improve Fitbits service to us.   Your management has failed to tell me what benefits came at the cost of down grading your maps.  Also,  why is this info not being passed down to us from you.   You appear to be trying to do your job by passing on our info, but they don't appear to be telling you the whole story.   Warren

Well this is not good news. Still no real update when or if this feature will return.

Not only does the map lack detail my run route which is identical to the route before the update shows wildly different distances ranging from 3 to 5 miles and several thousand less steps, compared with before.  Occasionally it shows the correct distance but never the for the steps!!! It's actually quite soul destroying. I now have no way of judging my runs, the whole point of having the fitbit. Incidentally on my husbands iPhone he still has the map details and has noticed no difference in data! So is this just affecting Android phones?

The new app is awful! I thought updates were generally implemented to improve an app, not make it worse. I regret buying a new Sense 2. Wish I could return it and buy a Garmin.

I'm also thinking of going over to a different brand name due to the lack of "good answers".

1) What improvements came about due to the GPS maps sacrifice of street names.

2) Are there plans to put street names back onto the maps.

3)  How do we get customer satisfaction when all we hear is we will pass on your concerns.

They should not have issued this update in the first place...it's
especially annoying as regular Google Maps does work!!! Plus I trust they
are also investigating the lack of accuracy with the step count????

Hi Juan:  Thankyou for responding.

 1) I know you say they are working on re-installing names and locations but is there any estimated time for improvement.

2) Will you update us if Fitbit has concluded that they have decided not to try to re-establish street names / locations.

3) Can you please list me the positive updates with the latest update in Sept.

lastly, can you please answer all 3 questions.

Sorry to be a pain, but I need more knowledge to determine if Sense 2 is an appropriate health device to stay with.  I have been with fitbit for 8 years and up until now it has been great.

Yes.... ever since the last "update" fitbit has removed all street names.  Juan from fitbit says ge has notified the higher ups about it, but he has not given an update for awhile.   I talked to a senior Fitbit manager about it and they stated this was a planned consequence so that we e d up with a better product.  Juan sent me a video on the improvents which actually said nothing.   Sorry about giving you this update.

Juan if you are out there, please give is a proper update on GPS (Street names or the actual improvements that we got for the sacrifice).

I am very frustrated with Fitbit they have now had plenty of time to sort
out the map. When I show friends who use different brands they cannot
understand why Fitbit are using such a poor map. The general consensus is
Google are going to withdraw all the products and entice us towards Google
trackers instead! Not sure how long this message will stay on as the
moderators are removing my comments!!!!

Thankyou for posting, we need to keep them open and honest with our
dialog. So far they haven't deleted mine, but I have been straddling the
red line. It appears Juan isn't responding with updates anymore.

This has been going on for a long time without any resolution, my Versa 3 is now a couple of years old and I will soon begin the process of looking at a replacement. Fitbit products will not be looked while this map issue is unresolved.

Well my Fitbit was new this past summer!!! But as it has become pointless using it I too will be looking at alternatives as soon as I can buy another!

If this has been a ploy to encourage us onto Google trackers it has failed for me spectacularly... it has made me quite anti Google, prior to this I was indifferent!
