Versa 3 on-wrist calls not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello,

I'm unable to use on-wrist calls with my Versa 3 on my Moto G8 Plus phone. The phone has android 10, both phone and Versa are up to date.

I'm able to set up the Versa with no problems, sync and notifications work perfectly. When I perform the On wrist call setup, everything goes fine, Versa 3 Controls connects to my Bluetooth, and the app shows a success message.

Once I call the phone, the Versa screen shows the option to answer the call. When I answer, the call seems to be answered successfully, but no audio is received on the Versa nor does the mic seem to work. After about 5 seconds, I get the following error message: "Connection Error. There is something wrong with your connection. Take call on phone." After this happens, sync and notifications stop working. If I force stop the app, and turn Bluetooth off then on again, sync and notifications come back. However, On wrist calls still don't work.

Here's where it gets interesting, I've tested this Versa 3 on a different cell phone (a Moto G6 play), and it works fine, including On wrist calls. I tested a different Versa 3 (one that works perfectly on the other phone) on the Moto G8 Plus, and On wrist calls don't work. So I've narrowed it down to a problem with the cell phone. I should mention, other Bluetooth devices such as headphones work fine with the phone.

Things I've tried:

  • Performing a factory reset on the Versa 3.
  • Reinstalling the Fitbit app, then restarting the phone.
  • Reviewing the Fitbit app permisions, comparing them to the phone that does work. They are the same (Though I still may be missing something so if you know more about the required permissions please let me know).
  • Made sure the Fitbit app is running in the background.
  • Redoing all these steps while shutting down all other Bluetooth devices in the house.
  • Searching this forum for similar issues.
  • Calling the customer support line. They've been very kind and done their best to help, but we haven't found the source of the problem.

I'm told my issue has been escalated and I'm waiting to hear back, but I thought I'd ask here as well in case anyone has run into similar problems. At this point, I'm thinking it may be a permissions issue, or perhaps some incompatibility issues with another one of my apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance and sorry for the long post!

Martha

Having same exact issue on my Samsung Galaxy S8+. So disappointing, love my Versa, but considering sending back and trying another tracker brand! Using my phone was one of top reasons I chose to get a Versa!

On the Versa 3, have you gone into settings and checked that the mic is turned on?

Look under vibration and audio.

How do I navigate my Fitbit device?

SAME, I am at the point of going to return it as faulty as I have tried everything. Very frustrating.

I have the same issue with my new Versa 3 and iPhone 13 pro. All software is up to date, Bluetooth & Wifi connected and settings to allow calls and notifications on.

I like my Fitbit but either they don’t like iPhones or their devices have a major flaw . This is my 4th Fitbit watch and every one that offered this feature would not work consistently. I get tired of daily troubleshooting. Thinking about giving up and trying another device but I love the other Fitbit functions.
