Versa 3 screen went blank after getting wet

Hey, I've had my versa 3 for a couple of years now and it's been great. Over the weekend, the screen has stopped working. It vibrates when I touch it, but the screen is dark.

  • I've tried resetting it by holding the side button for 10 seconds. The fitbit logo does not come up though, just a fuzzy white screen flickers then stops working again.
  • I've tried charging it and ensuring the charging prongs and ports are clean, no change
  • I've tried popping it on the charger for a second and then off and then back on for a second and then off again, but not change

I'm not sure what to do, like I hadn't used it any differently than previous uses, with shallow water etc.

I've checked the community page for ideas and tried all the ones documented.

Does anyone else have any ideas that have worked?

Hi there, @Kizza. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 3 has stopped working after getting wet. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

If your device got wet, it’s important to take it off and dry it well before putting it back on. On the other hand, if your device has come into contact with any liquid other than fresh water, you should clean it with fresh water and a soap-free cleanser and dry it with a lint free-cloth.

If you've done the above but to no avail, I'd recommend performing a factory reset as our last approach. Important: Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

With the above being said, please try syncing your Versa 3 (even when a screen is blank the device can still sync) and then, proceed with the steps below in the order listed:

  1. Don’t plug the Fitbit device into the charging cable.
  2. Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off.
  3. After the screen turns off, you’ll feel a short vibration:
    1. When you feel the vibration, release the button and immediately press and hold the button again.
    2. Wait until the blue logo appears, then disappears:
      1. Immediately release the button and then immediately press and hold it .again, until you feel a vibration.
      2. After you feel the vibration, release the button.
        • This vibration indicates you started the factory reset.
        • After the Fitbit logo appears, the Fitbit device shows the image with the phone icon and setup indicator.

Once the above has been done, you can now proceed to set up your Versa 3 again by following the steps provided here How do I set up my Fitbit device?
