Versa 3 shows heart rate reading even when I'm not wearing it

Occasionally my Versa 3 shows heart rates, usually very high rates, when I am not wearing it.  Usually it is lying on a table during the night.  This is making me question the accuracy of the heart rate data when I am wearing it, too.  Sometimes there is a real spike when I am wearing it and I question if the reading is correct.  This happens sometimes when I am not being very active.

Hi there, @mmudd48. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the inconvenience with your Versa 3. I understand where your concern is coming from.

Sometimes your Versa 3 can't detect you have taken it off, and it sees what it thinks is your pulse. Note that if you remove your watch from your wrist but it keeps moving, for example if you put it in a pocket, backpack, purse, night stand table, or somewhere where there are sort of vibrations, the watch may display an erroneous heart rate reading.

I'd recommend taking a look at these help articles How do I track heart rate with my Fitbit device? and What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

Hi @mmudd48  - try a Shutdown from the watch Settings menu. Wait at least 10 seconds before placing on the charger to restart it and charge it.

Also if using a 3rd party clock face try a Fitbit one.
