I've just got a versa 3 which I've been using since Christmas day and I've noticed that sometimes when I've done a walking exercise using GPS it counts less steps than previous days walking exercises even though I've walked further.
The GPS is also very temperamental and sometimes when I do the same walking route some days it can be 2 miles less than what it should be and then other times on the same route its only half a mile out and others its almost spot on. I know this because I run Strava at the same time on my phone and that is always near enough the same mileage each day but yet the versa 3 can vary from day to day.

It's great to see you around, @Ksbs.
For tips about improving accuracy, I recommend checking the help article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?.
Several things can affect the number of steps your Fitbit device records, including where you place the device, if you wear it on your dominant or non-dominant hand, and your stride length. If you're pushing a stroller or shopping cart, try putting your device in your pocket or use GPS to record your activity, if possible.
If it still seems like your device is undercounting or overcounting steps, try a step test. While you perform your step test, make sure you:
-Walk at a normal pace
-Don’t hold anything in your hands
-Put your arms down at your sides, swinging naturally
-Count 1 step for each foot
-To avoid getting an additional step when you bring your feet together, after you reach 100 steps:
Here’s the step test:
Now about the distance, Fitbit devices calculate distance based on the device’s accelerometer data and stride length setting. Default stride length is based on your height and gender. If available, Fitbit devices use GPS data to calculate more precise distances. When you sync your device, our algorithm interprets the data from the device, and you see your distance traveled in the Fitbit app.
Note that when you track an exercise with GPS, both GPS and accelerometer data are used to calculate the distance shown in the Fitbit app.
Let me know the outcome.

For the nth time @AlejandraFitbit can you please explain how (and most of all why) despite being a good GPS sensor Fitbit decide to heavily rely on the steps calculation when obviously is providing totally unsatisfactory results?

Have you had any luck fixing this? I just switched to the Versa 3 and went on a stroller walk with my son today and it counted my steps accurately but the distance (even with the GPS) is wildly inaccurate.
