Versa 3 stopped tracking my heart rate

My Versa 3 recently stopped reading my heart rate.   The strobe on the back of the watch has stopped strobing.  I have restarted the watch a few times but have not factory reset it yet.  Is this a common issue and what would the fix be, if any?

Thank you.

Hi there, @swarren5150. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 3 has stopped tracking your heart rate. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Exercising in cold weather can make it more difficult for your device to track your heart rate, as environmental conditions can affect skin perfusion (the amount of blood that flows through your skin).

As with all heart-rate tracking technology, accuracy is affected by personal physiology, device location on your arm, and type of movement. For a more accurate heart-rate reading:

  • Wear your Fitbit device on top of your wrist, and make sure the back of the device is in contact with your skin.
  • When you’re not exercising, wear your device a finger’s width above your wrist bone.
  • During exercise, wear your device a bit tighter and higher for an improved fit. The band should be snug but not constricting (a tight band restricts blood flow, potentially affecting the heart-rate signal). Many exercises such as bike riding or weight lifting cause you to bend your wrist frequently, which could interfere with the heart-rate signal if the watch is lower on your wrist.

If you haven't done so yet, see our troubleshooting steps in What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?

None of that explains why the sensor strobe stopped flashing.

@swarren5150 Thanks for getting back. If your Versa 3 is not detecting your heart rate, the LED won't flash as they should.

Before moving forward, may I know if you already tried the recommendations I've shared with you in my previous post? May I know if your heart rate is showing in the Fitbit app even though it is not showing on the device itself?

The flashing strobe sensor that USED to flash and even keep me awake at night no longer flashes.  Changing the position on my arm will not change that.  But yes, I made sure the thing is clean and has direct contact to my skin, and is in the right position.   But the flashing thing no longer flashes so none of this will matter, afaikt.

@swarren5150 I appreciate the details you provided.

Since all the steps you tried didn't work, you have a Versa 3 and report that the heart rate monitor stopped working, I need additional information from you that would best be shared privately. I’m sharing a link to a form for you to fill out so we can look into this further.

This form is only meant for you to use, so let me know once you’re done. Click here to get access to it.
