Versa 3 stuck on download app screen and won't sync

I noticed my Versa 3 was completely shutdown. When I turned it back on, the battery was 81% but the screen  said I needed to download the app. I updated the app, but it still won't sync with the watch and apparently hasn't since 10am. I restarted both the app and the watch but its still not syncing or moving past the download screen. Is there a way to reconnect the app and the watch without losing my previously logged data?

P.S. My app operates on a Samsung A12 with whatever the latest Android upgrade is.

Thanks for all the information you provided in your post. 

Based on what you mention in your post, I'll suggest trying to do a set-up for your device again. This is because the screen you are currently getting is the screen that you get for a brand-new device that needs to be set up.  Please follow the steps here if needed.
