I have been unable to connect to Bluetooth on my Samsung s10 phone.  My phone sees my watch, but when I try to connect I get an error message 'an app is needed to use this device'.  Has anyone else seen this?  Advice?  Thanks!

Hi there, @SunsetRunner. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with your new Versa 3. @Guy_ Thanks for your help!

In order to solve this issue, please try the steps below:

  • Check if by any chance your phone's Bluetooth shows the Versa 3 as a connected device. If so, please unpair/remove it.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Setup your Versa 3 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 3.

If you can't get started with your Versa 3, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

Hi @SunsetRunner  - as it says you need to connect to Bluetooth using the Fitbit app.

Try

  • Logout of the Fitbit app
  • Login again
  • Go to the phone home screen without closing the App
  • Click on the sync popup
  • Wait for the pair and link
  • And sync

If that isn't working restart the phone and watch and try again.

Thank you for your reply.  I have been able to connect sporadically today.  I was able to install a new app and a couple clock faces.  I'll keep hoping for the best!
