Versa 3 stuck on message "To start download the Fitbit app"

Since a firmware updating my Versa 3, the watch is telling me to download the app, while the app is recognising the watch but cannot connect to it.

Confused and upset. Any help gratefully received as even  tried factory reset, the last function I was able to access on the Versa

Hi there, @WalshCymru. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the troubleshooting steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your Versa 3 is still not connecting. I understand your concern and how you must be feeling, I will do my best to help you with this!

As per the message on the watch's screen, it seems that your Versa 3 is asking to be paired. With that said, I'd suggest following the steps below:

  • Check if by any chance your phone's Bluetooth shows the Versa 3 as a connected device. If so, please unpair/remove it.
  • Remove the Versa 3 from your Fitbit account and your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Set up your Versa 3 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 3.

I'm having the same issue.   Won't removing the device and trying to add it again cause all your previous data to be lost?  I'd like to know before I attempt the above fix.

Tried all the info given by a moderator, reloaded program, paired phone and
versa 3, and... loads of text demanding firmware update - same old. Any
ideas on a replacement, V4 isn't as good as V3 but will a new V3 have same
issue - 150 bucks is a punt too far

Same issues, watch stuck on "download the app" on various languages  - phone stuck on download the firmware, tried all suggestions,  went through pairing codes at least 4 times, via bluetooth or Wii. Bitterly disappointed.

Thanks for confirming that there is an issue, and I agree that there seems
to be an onus on being sidelined, that you're the only one a problem
(firmware update mess age just came through, 3rd today). Their firmware
caused the issue, no prob before that - would have more faith in the firm
if some proper communication took place, but thanks to those moderators who
have tried to help.
