Versa 3 suddenly stopped recording the sleep patterns

It is so frustrating. My Versa 3 suddenly stopped recording the sleep patterns after it working perfectly for years! I tried everything and in the end I’ve purchased a Sense 2 which cost a lot of money. The same thing is happening with that watch too!  I gave my husband my Versa 3 and it is recording his sleep patterns perfectly. How annoying is that!!!! Fitbit - get it sorted!

I hate to potentially be the bearer of bad news, but it turned out I have
post-ventricular contractions that make my heartbeat irregular and
therefore confuse any technology that tries to track my heart rate.

It's not necessarily a problem unless you feel symptoms but requires
keeping an eye on it. If you have similar trouble with other such tech, it
might be worth mentioning to your doctor as I did!

@doublefantasy , Thank you for sharing your experience and tips. I hope everything got better with your health situation.

@SunsetRunner , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your message.
As you mentioned, the Versa 3 recorded the sleep pattern of your husband, this means that the watch is working as intended.

The message you got regarding the consistent heart rate, could mean a lot of things why this might be caused.

The most common ones could be:

  •  the user has a very low heart rate during the sleep, so that the Fitbit cannot recognize it.
  • you are wearing the watch too tight. This avoids the reflection of the LEDs to be recognized by the watch.
  • you are wearing the watch too loose. This can cause the watch to move during the night and the heart rate cannot be recorded constantly.
  • do you start the sleep record on the app or let the watch recognize it automatically?

Other conditions that  can prevent the recording of sleep would be:
- You record your sleep using the app instead of the tracker's automatic sleep detection.
- The tracker's battery drains quickly when you go to bed (below 25%). This prevents a regular recording of the heart rate.
- You used the metal bracelet while sleeping
- You sleep less than 3 hours.
- The bracelet is too loose or too tight on the wrist. You should be able to put your index finger between the bracelet and your arm without much resistance so that your heart rate is recorded regularly and the sleep phases can be identified.

If you already verified all these, and if your husband gets the sleep record with both devices and you don't, you could consider the recommendation by our friend @doublefantasy and maybe have you checked by an health expert.

Thanks for the info. Funnily enough I broke my ankle recently and whilst in the ambulance the paramedics said they were concerned because my heart seemed to be having an extra beat! The hospital said they weren’t worried but I think I’m going to have it checked out anyway as it’s obviously a new thing that’s happening!

@SunsetRunner , Thank you for your reply.  Wishing you a fast recovery from the ankle injury.  The equipment from the paramedics, should be a medical device in contrast from a Versa 3. Meaning that they can use theirs to diagnose health issues.
Even if not urgent, as you mentioned that the hospital was not worried, I suggest you get that check, for your peace of mind.
Hope the info you get, helps clearing out everything .
