Versa 3 swim tracking - backward step!!!

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have just been for my first swim with my new Versa 3 and am extremely disappointed that the software seems to be a backwards step from what I had on my Versa 2!! Really poor!! I do a continuous 1km swim in a pool 2 or 3 times a week and the analytics of my Versa 2 were really handy to see patterns of times per 100m and it showed where I needed to focus on improving my speeds to hit time targets. I am really disappointed to see that the Versa 3 doesn’t have this and is basically just an overall timer, length and calorie counter. The breakdown after my swim gave me a target to improve on with the analytics it gave me. It also helped that I got a notification every 100m so I knew where I was in my swim without having to try and turn the screen on during my swim to see the lap counter (which ruins my swim streamlining and slows me down!!) or keep reminding myself how many of the 40 lengths that I usually swim at a time that I have completed….which makes the swim boring as I need to keep thinking about that rather than letting my mind go elsewhere and enjoy it more!! Please include builds on this in future software builds!! It is one of the main reasons I went for another Fitbit after the battery on my Versa 2 needed charged every 2 days and became a pain to make sure I had enough charge to monitor my training when I needed it.

Hello @Stuartyboy74

No official explanation from Fitbit but users believes the Versa 3 will never be able to tracks laps in real time because lacking of gyroscope (as opposed to the almost twin Sense that, since provided with gyroscope, can measure laps in real time). Hence I'm sorry but a software update could never fix this lack of feature. My suggestion would be to move to Sense if such feature is essential for you.

Ok thanks for your reply. I find that strange though.. as it can still tell me

how many lengths/laps I’ve done at the end of my swim… and I think (though need to fully confirm as only tried it once so far) if I turn on the screen it will show me how many I’ve done up to that point (it’s a pain to do that if I don’t have the screen on all the time when swimming which eats the battery life up) .. so I can’t understand how it can’t give me time splits and notifications every 4 lengths?
