@Tlniede - it could be you have Always On selected.
Double tap the screen or press the button to see your chosen clock face then swipe the watch face right to get to Quick Settings, and enable the wrist wake icon and preferably disable the Always On icon as this will save you battery.
If you have sleep or do not disturb enabled, disabled them too.
