Versa 3 won't pair or sync to my phone again

Hi, I replaced my old Fitbit with a Versa 3 5 days ago. All was wonderful until today. I went to sync after my run and it wouldn't work. Tried several times over a couple of hours but still no luck. Followed all the online advice several times: multiple phone reboots; turning Bluetooth on and off; uninstalling and reinstalling the app; 20+ attempts at pairing. All no good. Fitbit is fully charged and display seems to be working fine, but I can't use the app... I've checked and my phone will pair with other devices via Bluetooth, just not my new Versa 3 anymore. Concerned that others are reporting this problem too....

@JWaddi Thanks for stopping by in the Community Forums and already trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

While reading your post I was wondering if your old Fitbit device has been already unpaired from your Fitbit account and phone's Bluetooth settings?

If it hasn't already, well, then your Versa 3 cannot connect properly to your phone since you haven't yet forgotten the connection between your old Fitbit device and the phone's Bluetooth which would explain the connectivity issues you're running into. With that said, try the steps below:

  • Unpair your old Fitbit device and Versa 3 from your phone's Bluetooth settings and the Fitbit app.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your new phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Versa 3 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 3.

Hi. My problem is the same as yours. It seems to have all gone weird since I clicked on the update your versa message on the app. I’m at a loss as to what to do. There’s no longer sleep info/ heart rate etc available and the app tells me I’ve done a hundred steps when I’ve done thousands!

Hi there, @Maxbell17. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. I understand how you must be feeling.

Have you checked that your Versa 3 is still paired to your Fitbit account? It seems that it might have gotten unpaired after the update. To make sure that your Versa 3 is still paired, go to your Fitbit account, tap the Today tab > your profile picture > your device image. If you found out that your Versa 3 is no longer linked to your Fitbit account, see How do I set up my Fitbit device?

If you continue having syncing difficulties after trying to above suggestions, see Why won't my Fitbit device sync?

Hope that helps.

Hello and thank you for your reply and advice.  You were right it did get unpaired after the update. I have succeeded in getting it paired up again and all is well! I’m definitely putting this down to the update.
I’ve seen the message from Fitbit acknowledging the issue with androids snd pairing. My phone is an iPhone but I suspect it’s the same problem. Thank you again

I must admit that I wear my versa 3 during the night and wake up to find I’ve done about 80 steps without getting out of bed. Bizarre!

I don’t know what to make of it all

I have given up trying to get the phone, calendar and text to sync with my Samsung. It was returned.

I have been struggling with my Versa 3 for more than 2 years.

Sometimes it works, most of the time it doesn't.

Issue is the synchronization and the Bluetooth connection.

Tried everything, to no avail.

Today I killed the tracker, couldn't stand it anymore.

Still wondering why the sync is so difficult : with my Tom-tom (battery is almost dead unfortunately) never problems : plug it in the PC, and immediately all the info you want and expect.
