Versa 3 won't show any sort of text/font

I've recently (in the past day or so) become stuck with a very unusual problem. My Versa 3 no longer displays any text of any kind other than my watchfaces, and even then it only displays 'graphical' text and not font-based text. Anything font-driven does not appear. I can swipe to all of the different screens... all of the background graphics and logos appear, but no text whatsoever.

This problem also happened to someone else two years ago. I tried both of the solutions suggested in the thread (resetting the watch and changing the watchface) - multiple times - and neither has worked. I can still read my preferred watchface just fine (thankfully), but I cannot use any other features of the watch unless I know exactly where to swipe and tap.

@JasonBroadley Thanks for trying to follow the steps I recommended and for the images attached.

Since none of the recommendations worked, I do suggest performing a factory reset on your Versa 3. In order to do so, please try the steps below:

  1. Don’t plug the Fitbit device into the charging cable.
  2. Press and hold the button for about 8 seconds until the screen turns off.
  3. After the screen turns off, you’ll feel a short vibration:
    1. When you feel the vibration, release the button and immediately press and hold the button again.
    2. Wait until the blue logo appears, then disappears:
      1. Immediately release the button and then immediately press and hold it .again, until you feel a vibration.
      2. After you feel the vibration, release the button.
        • This vibration indicates you started the factory reset.
        • After the Fitbit logo appears, the Fitbit device shows the image with the phone icon and setup indicator.

Take into consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account, your applications, alarms, etc.

Hi there, @JasonBroadley. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. I understand where your concern is coming from.

As per the description of your post, it seems you've "Always-On" display enabled, that would explain why your Versa 3 is not showing any sort of font/text.

To turn it off, please try the following:

  1. Swipe right from the clock face to open your quick settings.
  2. Tap the always-on display icon.

Clock faces without an always-on display mode use a default always-on display clock face. Choose an analog or digital clock face. Open the Settings app > Display. In the Always-on display section, tap Analog or Digital.

Always-on display automatically turns off when your watch's battery is critically low.

To exit the always-on display and interact with your watch, turn your wrist toward you, press the button, or double-tap the display.

Hope this helps.

Marre,

Thank you for your reply. I struggled a bit with your instructions because some of the icons are not appearing either. When I swipe left, I can see icons for each app, but when I swipe right, all I see are colored circles. I ran some tests with a few different watch faces (I was able to figure out how to change them) and found which button toggles always-on and switched that off. The problem is still persisting though. I cannot use the Settings app at all, however, as EVERYTHING in there is font-driven; all I get are a bunch of blank screens with the occasional faint blue line here and there.

At this point I'd be willing to do a factory reset on the watch if it would fix this problem, but I can't seem to find out how to do that without navigating the Settings app.

Here are some photos showing what various screens look like on my Versa 3. The last one is what it looks like when I open the Settings app.
