Versa 3 won't stay connected to my phone's Bluetooth

Just updated from charge 2 to Versa 3. So disappointed. Won't stay reliably  connected to Bluetooth ,.   ( have tried every recommended trick on this site to no avail ) therefore useless to me .. won't connect to Google Assistance .....

I've a One plus Nord phone. No problems with Charge 2.

Any miracle ?

The problem is they keep updating the app and introducing instability, so may be the Charge 2 will no longer be reliable. That said try disabling battery savings.

On the phone check battery optimizations

[the options may be different in your version]

  • First go to Settings > Apps & Notification > Special app access
  • Click on Battery optimization
  • Now press the drop down menu [...] and select “All Apps
  • Click on Bluetooth and then select “Don’t optimize
  • Same with Fitbit
  • Next go to Settings > Apps  > Fitbit > Storage
  • Clear cache [not data]
  • Force stop the Fitbit app

Restart both watch and phone after for good measure - it may help.

Hi there, @Parkville. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for trying to troubleshoot the issue with your Versa 3 before reaching out. I understand how you must be feeling. @Guy_ Thanks for your input!

Since you have upgraded from a Charge 2 to a Versa 3, I'd like to know if you've already removed the Charge 2 from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit account? If you haven't done so yet, please try the steps below:

  • Remove your Charge 2 from your Fitbit account and unpair it from your phone's Bluetooth.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off the Bluetooth.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth.
  • Setup your Versa 3 again.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Versa 3.

As for Google Assistant, may I know more details about the issue? Knowing the issue, I can assist you accordingly.

However, if after following the steps above you are still having issues with Google Assistant, please try the following:

  • Verify that the mic on your Fitbit Versa 3 is turned on.
  • Clear the cookies on phone.
  • Try again to set up Google assistant in the Fitbit app.
  • Keep the phone within 30 feet of the watch.
  • Open the Fitbit app on your phone and sync the watch. The Fitbit app must remain running in the background on your phone for your voice assistant to work.
  • Your phone must have an internet connection, either through Wi-Fi or a cellular data signal.

For more information, see How do I use a voice assistant on my Fitbit smartwatch?

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes charge 2 was removed and I have repeated your advice again with no
luck. Also versa 3 controls won't stay reliably connected to Bluetooth
either.
Google assistance.... Yes microphone is on and all is in place as you
mention but will not connect....

"Why make it so hard to connect/ sort out ? " because Google acquired Fitbit...

maybe try this :

uninstall the app, go to Bluetooth settings and forget all the connection with the watch ( versa3 and versa controls);

Then reinstall the app, connect the watch with the Bluetooth in the fitibit application and restart the watch by charging it.

I'm having the same problem of being unable to connect to Bluetooth. I have followed your instructions (uninstalling, turning off, reinstalling) etc, but everytime I try to connect to Versa 3 from Bluetooth I get the message "Pairing rejected by Versa 3". And I've tried restarting my Versa 3.

This is my first fitbit and it just arrived today, and to have a problem like this on my first day rather worries me. Can you please advise on what Fitbit is doing about this and what the fix is? thanks.

Yes mine says exactly the same and then it might connect for a few hours
and stop again. It will not connect to Google assistance at all despite
everything tried.
Very disappointed with Fitbit and couldn't recommend it.
Too expensive and not fit for purpose.

Yes, it connected when I first set up this morning, but since then, nothing. I just tested that it wasn't my phone causing the problem by trying to connect to a different Bluetooth item (a mini speaker) and it worked fine. So it's not my phone, it's Fitbit.

Really hope they get back to us with a proper resolution soon!

I know your feelings I almost gave up but it's all good now.

The goal is that you phone and the app forget completely your watch in order to set up a brand new pairing with the last version of the app. Their updates caused issues.

i forgot to mention a step during the uninstall process. Before deleting the fitbit app, I went into my account directly in the app, then in the versa 3 section (between "create a family account" and "+ "set up a device"). Now just click on the top right corner (the bin) to remove the Versa3 from your account. Only not synced data will be lost. Please restart your phone before reinstalling the last version of the Fitbit App.

Good luck !

Thanks for your reply TryDebian.

I tried this as you suggested, including removing Versa3 from my account. Once I reinstall it finds it, it gives me a 4-digit code and I input that, then it just fails to connect and asks me to try again. I did it twice with the same result  😞

This is doing my head in...

Yep have done all that , it might pair itself eventually and then it will
unpair itself ,no warning or reason and won't repair for ages or not at all
. Couldn't trust it to do anything....and absolutely no pairing to Google
Assistance.

When you uninstall, you also need to go in the bluetooth settings of your phone and forget the pairing with the versa 3 and versa 3 controls. That would me my first guess. Did you do that Gwenfar ?

Still having all the same issues and tried all the same remedies. What is going on? So frustrating. Extremely disappointed in this product and I have been a loyal fiybiy customer.

I hear you Parkville!!! I have had this watch since November 2020 and this I my third Fitbit. I love Fitbit but this issue is really really upsetting. I miss phone calls and texts all the time because my watch doesn't stay connected. I try to answer phone calls that come in to then realize that the google assist on-wrist calls has been disabled automatically. The only thing that helps for me is opening the Fitbit app and syncing throughout the say which isn't the idea. I also need to always be re-syncing it up with bluetooth. I really wish they would fix this!

Yes what is going on with Fitbit ?

Yes, I did do that with bluetooth settings.

I kept trying a couple more times, then suddenly, it paired! So, yay, but it does drop in and out, so only a little yay. Also, it took c. 3 hours of my day to get to this point. And that's not ok.

So thank you to TryDebian, as I think these suggestions helped. But FitBit need to fix this, both the problem with pairing in the first place, plus the fact even when you do pair, Bluetooth drops in and out, for no obvious reason. No-one should have to spend so much time and energy on getting something so basic to work.

You'd think, but I have a Google Pixel 6 and that won't stay connected either! I have no idea if the problem is with the Pixel's Bluetooth, or with the Fitbit versa 3. Either way it's annoying as all getout
