Versa 3 won't track runs accurately

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

For almost a year my Versa 3 has tracked runs pretty accurately, probably around .02 or .03 off per mile. But the past few days it has been horribly off. After feeling like I was going much faster than it said, I started bringing my phone with me and tracking on both. Yesterday I ran 3.87 miles at a 7:41 and my watch said I went 3.68 miles at an 8:05 pace. I went for a long run today and same results. The gps is fully connected before the run and stays that way the entire time. Is there something else I should be doing or is the watch just faulty? On a different note it also rapidly loses battery at night, roughly 30% on a normal day and 40% when doing a sleep meditation beforehand.

Hi, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums, @Ricky_Garibay.

Thank you for sharing this information about the trouble you've been experiencing with your Versa 3.

If the GPS is getting disconnected during your activity, the watch may track different information for the the distance. Before considering other options, make sure to follow the steps suggested in this article

All devices with GPS sensors require a direct path to GPS satellites to calculate location. A weak GPS signal might affect the accuracy of your route and other activity data. Your device uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a signal, so the total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS isn't available for the entire time. In particular, please make sure of the following:

  • That you are  in open sky and moderate trees
  • Adjust how you wear the tracker when you want to use GPS
  • Make sure the Location in your phone settings is set to Always or All the time for the Fitbit app (if you're using connected GPS)

If you continue to experience the same behavior, make sure to try following the steps listed in this article to complete a restart, as this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar.

Regarding the battery that is draining too fast, please make sure that you've also followed the steps provided in this article to improve battery life in general.

I'll be around.

My Versa 3 did something similar a few days ago. It's usually fairly accurate, but on Saturday it recorded a 5k run as 5.58k and showed an incorrect faster pace.

I shutdown and restarted the watch. It's now back to normal.

See you around. 😁

Hey Ricky,

Also having all sorts of GPS/tracking accuracy issues with Versa 3, but that's for another time.

Re battery dropping considerably overnight, do you have the snore detector active? I found this made my battery drop like a stone, but fine when turned off.

Hope that helps.

Welcome to the Community forums, @mv2899

Thank you for sharing your experience with the battery life on the Versa 3 as well. The snore detecting feature does make the battery drain a lot faster than usual.

Regarding the problem with GPS, I've been informed that you already contacted the Customer Support team for further assistance with this. In this case, they will let you know how to proceed.

Have a good day.

Hi Davide,

Thank you for your comment back.

Yep, I have spoken to customer support, unfortunately they weren’t able to help me so the Versa 3 has had to go back and I’ve moved on to Garmin.

regards,
