Versa 3 won't turn off and it's stuck on the set up mode

I searched this site all over and did not find a solution that works to turn off a Versa 3 after performing a factory reset. Moderators continually described how to shut it off after it has already been paired to a phone. I am trying to sell this thing because I have upgraded to another smart watch. So I want to erase my data and turn the thing iff to sell it. Unfortunately, there is no way to turn the thing off.  It defaults to setup mode and acts like a virus on my phone, continuously causing a popup wanting me to "Setup Versa 3". So, after contemplating throwing the thing off the bridge into the river, I did this workaround:

(1) Re-pair the thing with my phone's Bluetooth and connect it to my Wi-Fi. Wait for the Versa to go through its firmware update and boot. When the app asked me to give it "permissions" (contacts, email, texting, etc.) on my phone, I declined all permissions. It threw up a warning about what the watch could not do without the permissions. (like I care at this point) I just clicked on "continue" then the watch booted up. Then I used the normal method of swiping left and opening "settings" scrolling down and clicked in "shut off". Once it shut off, I immediately removed it from my Fitbit app, and set up my new watch.

So, the only information currently on the watch is my WiFi GUEST password. I have no intention of selling the watch to anyone who knows where I live, so who cares...

The new owner will have to do another factory reset to get the thing into setup mode and working in his/her phone anyway.

Hi @Dttech - seems like a good solution. Though you can disable WiFi before shutdown.

It is strange the watch, when new (factory status) is in an off state but returning to factory reset state isn't the same.

When a watch is setup placing the palm of your hand over the display turns it off. But this may not work after a factory reset.

It might be that it just required some time before it shut itself down fully.  I have a Versa that won't setup and gets stuck with the 4-digit code displayed (until the display times out as per usual). I just left it and walked away having given up all hope of ever getting to connect again after countless fruitless retries.  When I came back to it however it had actually shut down completely.

So how did you get the battery level reading with the thing turned
completely off and not set up with a phone?

The battery charge percentage is displayed when the watch is once again  restarted - while displaying the message to download the app and run the set up.
