Versa 4 is tracking steps while sleeping and GPS is not working properly

Hi, I have a versa 3 that I’ve had for about a year and today I woke up with almost 4k steps done, when I click into the information these all happened during the night while I was asleep. I know it’s normal to maybe wake up with 30/40 steps from moving around but 4000 is crazy. Is there any way to delete these steps and stop this from happening again? Also separately in the last few months if I track a walk/run in the app as opposed to on the watch, if I’m not in the app or of my phone is locked then it will only track distances in a straight line, so if I’m walking a ring it will just track a straight line across making my walk/run half the length. Any way to fix either of these issues would be much appreciated!

Hi there, @Annakm22. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm sorry to hear about the issues with your Versa 3. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

Do you have MobileTrack also linked to your Fitbit account? If you do, please note that MobileTrack could be tracking those extra steps. To verify this, please in the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab > then tap Devices. In this section you'll see your Versa 3 and below your phone (in case MobileTrack is indeed connected).

If the above describes your situation, you can remove MobileTrack by tapping on the phone's icon and then select "Remove From Account".

Nevertheless, to make sure that your Versa 3 is accurately tracking your steps, confirm the following are correct in the Fitbit app:

Since we use height to estimate your walking and running stride lengths, you may want to measure and manually adjust these values if your legs are longer or shorter than average. For more information, see How does my Fitbit device calculate my daily activity?

If you want to negate the extra steps, see How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Regarding GPS, please note that since you have a Versa 3 it operates with built-in GPS, phone (connected) GPS is for other Fitbit models. For more information, see How do I use GPS on my Fitbit device?
